Merry Christmas from Philadelphia! I'm sitting here in Dad's hospital room with Mom. Dad is still in surgery--we don't expect to hear anything for several hours, and likely won't see him before midnight. But we got our Christmas miracle! The transplant surgeon spoke to us for quite awhile before they took Dad down--I really like the guy.

I went for a 2 block walk, which turned out to be 8 blocks! Had to go to CVS to get sinus meds for me, Zantac for Mom, and water! In the AM, I will go home for an hour or 2 and see my kids. DS is really upset that I will not be there and that he will not wake up in his own bed. He really has a hard time with change, and when it involves giving up something he was looking forward to, it is really difficult. He is happy for Grandpa, of course, but upset with the unexpected changes.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas with your families. I'll update when I can.:santa:

Not much going on around here tonight. We are watching Micke's Twice Upon a Christmas.

The kids are already asking about going to bed. They are "tired" or so the claim. We still have to put the reindeer food out.

Wendy, your dad is in my thoughts. Keep us updated.

Wendy, I am so so happy for you and your family. We went through our transplants 10 years ago...and I am so thankful for all that extra time we've had with my own Daddy. I am so thankful for your miracle and the wonderful days ahead. I also hope that DS copes a little in his own way and truly appreciates how special this Christmas is.

Pretty much have been camped out on the couch all evening and its been wonderful. We'll go to church in the morning then head out to my brothers for luncheon and present opening. I can't wait to open my envelope. They always get me a Macy's gift card. I did get my slipper booties that I've been wanting, and as long as there's either cheescake or tiramisu, I'll ge fine!

Well, so much for the kids being tired and going to bed. They just got into the cookies.

We don't have anyplace to go tomorrow morning. Curt is taking the kids to his sisters some time in the early afternoon. Then we are all going to my brother's wife's house. This is the first holiday dinner she is cooking (my brother always cooked). I'll check in with her during the day to see if she needs anything.

Whgrn - So happy to hear about your Dad. What a great Christmas present!!!

I made it through last night's family get-together. And then came home and the kids gave us some neat gifts...
DS8 - gave me a cookie sheet and small Christmas tree decoration. DH got a pair of socks and sunglasses.
DS12 - gave me a bottle of hand sanitizer  cuz I always carry one and DH got a box of Sweedish Fish. They were so happy to give us that. That right there is what Christmas is - FANTASTIC!!!:santa:

On to family party #2 but this one should be normal. :thumbsup2

The nurse just came in and laughed. Mom, Daddy and I are all sitting here with our laptops going! Daddy's sending out email blasts to all his train, golf and wrestling buddies and the responses are pouring in. I've been reading all the posts on FB. Mom is writing to her soldiers (of course!) I think my little computer is making her crazy--I keep having to fix something for her. Soooo glad I grabbed my regular laptop on my way out the door, or Id never get on here.

My sister is on her way down from JFK and should be here around 6. This will be the first time she's been here for Christmas in almost 15 years!:santa:

Best Christmas ever. And the snow won't affect us at all, since we're inside until Tuesday or Wednesday. Those of you who will have to venture out in it, be safe!!

Hey no problem Wendy...not sure who actually designed it...I stole it from someone who stole it...gotta love cut and paste!! Glad to here Dad is well enough to be on the laptop.

Evening ladies...hope your holiday is going well.

Went to the 10:15 mass this morning and was shocked how empty it was. I mean, aside from Easter, Christmas is usually the busiest day of the year, and no one was there. To make it even worse, in the middle of Father Ed's homily, someone's phone went off! It was one of those really annoying beepy ringtones too...it seems like forever until the user managed to shut it off. I mean really, couldn't remember to silence your phone?

After church, we went to my brother's house for lunch. We were all ribbing my nephew about his girlfriend. He's nearly heartbroken coz she's going to Ireland for a semester abroad. Ah, young love. All the kids loved their gifts and it was a nice afternoon overall.

We're scheduled to get 6-8 inches of snow tomorrow evening. And so it begins. But I am looking forward to enslaving my visitor.

My Canadian-in-residence has informed me that Boxing Day is really what we Americans call the-day-after-Christmas-shopping-activity. I thought it had parades or something, at least. It is on the calendar. I'm a little disappointed.

There are a couple of us over on FB chatting if you want to pop over. Nope boxing day is kinda like our version of Black Friday.

We're supposed to get 8-12 inches here! Glad we don't have to go outside until Tuesday or so. The hotel is right across the street from the hospital, and is connected by a "bridge"--very convenient!

Daddy's having an ultrasound done now. I was amazed at how well he was able to get up and walk to the stretcher! He's my hero:love:

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope Santa was good to everybody. I am sure he was since I know this place is just full of a bunch of very good girls! :thumbsup2

Wasn't sure how the day was going to go at our house today after DH hurt my feelings last night but we ended up having a great day. It sure is good to be finally getting in a little rest now. One more round of festivities at the SIL's house tomorrow and then it will be back to normal. I'll be kicking out the tree ASAP so I can have my desk space back but the rest of the decorations may end up hanging around for months.

Kitty, I am glad to hear a positive review on timeshares. Sounds like you get to make use of yours and enjoy it. It's a little scary getting into something that we know virtually nothing about but I think if I can figure it out it will be a good thing in the long run. Learning all the lingo like "Depositing it with Interval" is surely going to be like learning a foreign language for me. I have a feeling I am going to be relying on customer support to help me out A LOT!

Jo, you reminded me that I still haven't watched the Jeff Dunham Christmas show! DS loaned me his dvd so maybe I can sneak in just one more Christmas movie early in the morning when everyone else is still asleep.
I like your style of shopping. Could be cause I did most of my shopping in my pjs too!

Wendy, thank you for explaining how to make your orzo pilaf! It sounds like something my mom used to make... only I never knew it had a name! She used rice. Would that be anything similar to orzo pasta? I can't wait to try it!
I am so happy for your dad and the whole family! What a relief and what a Christmas present! Hope he has a speedy recovery.

ilovedisney1 I do believe the other Texans around here are actually closer to you than I am. As long as it's Texas though it's all good!

Hello to everybody else! :wave2:
Oh yeah.... gotta show you one of my son's gift! He was joking one day about getting some bunny slippers to go with his robe. I couldn't find any of those in a manly size but I did find him these bear slippers. They were a hit! He has been wearing them all day off and on. Cracks me up every time I look down at his feet!

Good Morning...happy day after Christmas. I'm home. I had a great Christmas but came home early because of the snow comimg. I know I am west of most of it and some of you will be less lucky! I am to take my friend to the dr tomorrow am so I didn't want to worry about getting home for that.

I PAID OFF MY MORTGAGE!!!!! Wooohoooo!!!! I now own every inch of my house, leaky gutters and all!:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2:

:banana::banana: That's worth a 3 banana dance! I will be 80 when mine is paid off---if I make it that long!

Hey Marie! Glad your Christmas was merry! Love those slippers!

I don't do good posting on fb either Kitty...that's why this thread has to stay...even if some do not come here very often. It is so great to hear answered prayers, hear news that does need prayer, and just generally goof off with a group of great friends. I miss you all on the weekends!

Hey Sukie---I see you peeked in too!

Nice to meet a new friend too---I think JO called you Claudia?? I am bad at names! What do you want to be called here? I know you will get to know crazy me more..I am the night owl---usually. Sometimes I do flake off.

JO---Hope the snow isn't too bad for you. But I hear Phila is getting maybe 12! Did the kids like what Santa brought them? Hope things finally got wrapped!

LITC---How did Walter do with his Christmas? Did you have a white one?

Pikester---Shoveling in your future? I'm not sure how the snow will travel up to you...maybe go east enough?

D&D---Sounds like you have 2 good shoppers there. Glad your day was Merry!

That was neat EV---it doesn't matter who steals what---you passed it along for others to enjoy! Of course I know not everyone on the dis would feel that way about it!

I'm going to Williamsburg on Thursday through Sunday so I am glad this mess is now and not next weekend!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Well, we have around 10 inches of snow and counting outside! Not like our area to have snow two years in a row. I am usually gloating that we are in the 50's.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and all of your dreams came true.

WOW!!! It's just started here in Philadelphia in the past hour. But it's gonna get ugly later. And we're supposed to hit 60 for New Year's Day!

Brace yourself ha ha. If it is hitting us this hard you are probably gonna get it good!

I just measured and it is 8.5 inches and still falling (so I was a little off) :rotfl:

I was so happy to hear about your Christmas Miracle!!!! Tell your Dad I said Congratulations!!!!!:banana:

Thanks for the weather report Pepper. Mom is going to call a cousin in Suffolk today to see how it is. We just love it when you all down there get more than we do. this will be our first measurable snow this year. That's unreal that you all have gotten hit so bad so far. Even relatives in NC have more! Be safe out there...
