There's no lights behind our house where the moon is. Just some woods and a small iron works plant.

I can see it pretty good from the back porch.

Heading out one more time and then I'm off to bed. I have to get up with the kids in 5 hours.

Night!

I'm getting my tripod out and see if I can get a good pic. I know I will have to zoom it when developed because the zoom may not be too clear with the camera.
Night JO...

The covered part looks a little red. My neighbor is out. I gave him my tripod. His BIL has a good camera. It makes no difference with mine. The moon is so small! It'll look better when I can crop it and zoom at the photo place.

It's just about covered...more clouds...not going back....burrrrrrr...

It is neat how you can still see the moon though...
I think I have to wear socks to bed tonight....

Now this is sad...the night owl has to wake us up...but I'm sure lots have posted on fb!

I did set the alarm. I was asleep! I guess I went to bed around 3:30. The moon was almost covered when I was last able to see it and then the clouds came back. I didn't look again. I enjoyed it.

oh, and I"m just going to Atlantic City overnight. Taking my cousin and my mother. Cousin wants to see the Atlantic ocean. Mom wants to shop. I plan on winning millions.

Oh cool! Let us know how that works out for ya Kitty!

Thanks everyone. Sorry to ruin the Christmas spirit. Just was so upset this afternoon. Just needed to vent and cry a little.
It's strange because growing up, my parents were VERY concerned w/ treating each of us equally - down to the penny at Christmas time even. But as my mom is getting older, I think she's forgetting. Plus, I've learned something by having a DS with issues... The therapist told us that treating every child the same is not what is equal. Giving each child what they NEED and making them feel special is what is "equal" (if that makes sense)

That's such a good point. Equal isn't the same for everyone! DS complains that I treat DD as the "Golden Child". I told him that a) the "Golden Child" wouldn't have her phone and iPod taken away like DD did, and b) if it seems like I treat her better, maybe it's because she (usually) treats ME better!

Hopefully that's the case with DS. Its just that its something he can do that he's good at and I was hoping we had found something to make him feel good about himself. Although, I have to take a "mommy bragging moment" and share that he got his mid-terms on Friday and he had all As and 1 B. That's huge for him. He also moved up a reading level and is finally taking spelling tests sucessfully. :woohoo::woohoo:

JO - You'll have to tape it if Jackie gets into the talent show. :thumbsup2

WOOOHOOOO DS!!!!! That's AWESOME! Sure would like to see that from MY DS!

Jo, I'd like to see that tape too.

Feeling crummier today than yesterday. I don't think the antibiotics are helping at all.

Afternoon:

Can't believe you stayed up to watch the eclipse...it was cloudy here so I had a good excuse to skip it.

W ~ hope you feel better by the end of the week. Nothing's worse than being under the weather at Christmas.

Mail is finally catching up around here...yesterday got birthday/christmas cards...thanks so much.

I like comedies but don't like people acting stupid (Dumb & Dumber comes to mind).
I'm on the laptop..still getting familiar with the keyboard and screen (Windows 7). ugh

learning Windows 7 too...my new laptop counted as part of my birthday.

My house faces west...I'll just keep blowing that way!

How come my finger starts itching and skin peeling from a ring I have worn 20 years?

After 10 years I had to stop wearing my rings...now only put them on when I'm going out...keep telling DH that what he gets for getting my rings in a cracker jack box!!

Can't help about the itchy finger. I don't wear any rings at all because they irritate me.

We kept the traps out almost all winter but the mice would run through our lower kitchen cabinets. Always caught them before they got too far. I would set them in the same place at your mom's. After a while, we just didn't catch any anymore. And when it warmed up, they had no need to be inside. Tell your mom to keep the bread and stuff in upper cabinets.

I'm in an old house so get them sneaking in during the fall...traps under the sink with peanut butter always work for me.

I see some people watched the eclipse. :) I just got up in the morning and watched it on the TV.

D&DDisney :thumbsup2 for your son.

Re the laptop- I miss the number pad and mouse (not the live kind ;)) Using the touch pad I have discovered I drop my left hand on it. Sometimes the screen changes size sometimes I lock the touch pad.

I just realized I only have 4 more months to go before we start traveling toward WDW. :cool1: It's going to take about a week and a half to get there. We like looking at different scenery. No all night driving for us. We are going to the Everglades first.

I'm forever changing screen size...glad it's not just me!!

No, you're not alone. The screen changes sizes when I'm using the desktop too. Usually when I try to fix it it just ends up worse. I've noticed on the laptop the cursor jumps around a lot. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Eventually I'll get used to it. We are bringing it with us on our trip. Now we can do online check in. :)

That's great Kathy...tickers make me happy! When I had to give up my lap top when I retired, I missed the pad. I had not used a mouse for a while. I could bring the school's home. My computer does things I do not want when I do my Microsoft Word...why do they change versions so much? I knew the one about 3 versions ago!

I have not been able to post on fb today. Everyone there is busy wrapping gifts...I have a few to do. I think next year I will give tins of Hammonds pretzels to everyone. Then no wrapping! Holly posted a few pics if anyone hasn't checked.

I even have mom ooohing over Walter...he is just adorable!

I guess I will go to bed early tonight! Not drinking caffeine tomight! (I always have to spell check caffeine---why isn't it the i before e, except after c rule? I guess it starts with a c?)

For starters, thanks to all of you who sent Christmas cards. I LOVE the pictures (and that Walter is soooo yummy! He's up on my fridge!) I haven't gotten many cards this year. But I did get the first "pod people" letter from my cousin--one of the ones with the perfect children who all play 3 instruments, 3 sports, are Eagle scouts, straight A students, and solving the world's problems by the age of 6. My Dad called and said he thought he was going to throw up reading it! And then he thought of MY letter, where I described my kids in great semantics, so anyone who didn't know what was really going on would think "wow, what amazing children!". Of course, everyone who read it DOES know, and got the joke! (My sister literally fell out of the chair laughing!)

Whatever I've got is getting ugly. It hasn't gone any deeper into my chest, but I'm sneezing my head off, and my sinuses are on the warpath. I'm going through tissues like crazy, and my poor nose is getting really sore. I HAVE to get better before Saturday, or my parents won't be able to come down. Can't you just see me spreading this to my Dad, and then he gets a call for a kidney and can't have it because he's sick? Ugh...

My DS just solved the Rubiks cube in 54.15 seconds. I couldn't do it in 54.15 years! He's amazing.

Wendy---maybe you had better get ot dr and get some strong stuff before the holidays and everythibng is closed! I'm with you on that stupid cube...the person who invented it must be crazy! :woohoo: to your ds!
