TKers...8 is NOT enough!

Thanks everyone. Sorry to ruin the Christmas spirit. Just was so upset this afternoon. Just needed to vent and cry a little.
It's strange because growing up, my parents were VERY concerned w/ treating each of us equally - down to the penny at Christmas time even. But as my mom is getting older, I think she's forgetting. Plus, I've learned something by having a DS with issues... The therapist told us that treating every child the same is not what is equal. Giving each child what they NEED and making them feel special is what is "equal" (if that makes sense)

DS12 has his band concert tomorrow and I think he's really nervous about it. Usually he looks forward to this because he gets to play the big bass drum. But this time he is dreading it. Not sure what happened. :confused3

DL55 - Yes, you do need that camping ticker soon!!! :yay: And, like M&N, I love to send cards and talk on the phone. I'm old fashioned that way. I like the personal side to it all. Please don't feel like you have to do anything.

Kitty - I'm hoping you win big in AC. :cool1:

Sorry DS isn't excited about the concert...maybe some have been putting it down to him. Some kids loose interest in their instruments at that age because new friends do not play. Maybe he's just more self conscience now that he's growing up...doesn't want to blow it or in this case beat it incorrectly? Who can understand the young boy's mind? I bet he can't! I know you are right behind him...
I do get what you mean about the equal part.

Maybe I should set the alarm for 1:30...maybe I need to find out where the moon is even at now. I do not want to go out in the back yard to see it...maybe it'll be behind the tree anyway. I drank 2 glasses of tea to help me stay awake but I am yawning...other times it would keep me awake!

The last 2 nights the moon has been in the eastern sky at about 11pm (12am your time) Its snowing like crazy here so no moon tonight.

You might stay awake from the tea by having to go to the bathroom a lot.

Snow again? Is this usual?
You will just have to watch it on utube tomorrow.

D, stop saying that bad "s" word.

Jackie went through a phase where she wasn't really interested in playing the violin anymore. Didn't even care about her concerts. She didn't play for a year but has now taken it back up. She's been downloading sheet music like crazy and is even talking about playing in the schools talent show in the spring. Give him time. It could just be the same exact thing.

I wonder how many times going to the bathroom has come into our conversations at night? :rotfl:

I think going out in the cold will make me need to go to the bathroom more!

I remember Jackie quiting...wasn't it when she moved? Glad she's going back to it. Teens need an interest like that I think...gives them self-worth.

Bathrooms, wiping butts, poop, and lately Depends. I could just imagine what someone would think just popping in here to read once in a while. ;)

Sorry! But it really is S*ing here. Supposed to get 2-4 inches of S.

Hopefully that's the case with DS. Its just that its something he can do that he's good at and I was hoping we had found something to make him feel good about himself. Although, I have to take a "mommy bragging moment" and share that he got his mid-terms on Friday and he had all As and 1 B. That's huge for him. He also moved up a reading level and is finally taking spelling tests sucessfully. :woohoo::woohoo:

JO - You'll have to tape it if Jackie gets into the talent show. :thumbsup2

Did I mention Mom's mouse problem? She lives in a row of townhouses. The neighbor has mice--not the pet kind! They cannot find out how they got in. Mom kept her bread on top of the refrigerator...found a hole in the bag. Next loaf was put on the microwave which is on a separate cart in the kitchen...hole in bag. Mouse also got in a bird seed bag in her closet. So mice traps are put around. We had sticky pads and also 2 white things that capture them and they can't get out. We had no results. Mom has started keeping bread inside the microwave. She also got a plastic container. The neighbor has caught about 5. She had her laundry basket upstairs on her spare bed and put rolls and baking stuff in it. She went to get it several days later and the mouse had been there. One night she heard scratching in her bedroom and there was a baby in her trash can. Well mom got one this weekend. The white box has a lever that comes up when a mouse is caught. It was on the microwave. I moved the other one there. She's been having fits.

That's great D---tell your ds that I am proud of him...it takes a lot of work to bring that reading level up whe you get older. Tell him to keep beating that drum.

Woohooo! Go D&D's DS!!!! Tell him that I am so proud of him.

You have a good one! And don't you dare send any of the "S" over here.

Oh---I almost missed this. My post went on the next page and I had not gone back. We do get some tag fairy worthy quotes but no TF here...I'm not complaining!

My house faces west...I'll just keep blowing that way!

How come my finger starts itching and skin peeling from a ring I have worn 20 years?

M&N, we get them here in the winter. They can get in a house in the tiniest of holes. Last year, I could hear one under our stove. Drove me nuts. I have to remind Curt to get the traps out again.

They have not eaten anything in the cupboards like the jello or cookies. It's just agrivating. The bug man would come but he said he would use poison that would kill them and then they would die somewhere in the house and smell! Better to use traps. But then how does she know they are gone? She thought they were except she knew the neighbor had just caught one...and it was a baby so there must be more.

Can't help about the itchy finger. I don't wear any rings at all because they irritate me.

We kept the traps out almost all winter but the mice would run through our lower kitchen cabinets. Always caught them before they got too far. I would set them in the same place at your mom's. After a while, we just didn't catch any anymore. And when it warmed up, they had no need to be inside. Tell your mom to keep the bread and stuff in upper cabinets.
