TKers...8 is NOT enough!

Here's my NASCAR question.,..they don't stop to pee?

It is usually very, very hot in the cars so they sweat out most of the fluids they take in during the race. I think I've seen reports of it being over 120* in the cars.

Though, I do know of one instance where a driver had a stomach flu and could not do his post race interview because he had to go change his uniform.

I thought I saw something once about drivers having to stay hydrated and using these crazy straw systems to drink while on the track. But I could be making that up.

Some I see having a bottle and some just grab a tube thing and drink. I really don't know. Good question! I heard someone say that they had a snack in the car too. Some of the races are long. I do think some go during a rain delay.

I am so drawing a blank on that right now. I'm pretty sure they hand them a bottle of something to drink during the pit stops.

I know people don't think they are real athletes but I could never do what they do. I love the heat but sitting in a car for 3+ hours in those temps and not really being able to move around sounds horrible to me.

I have seen NASCAR officials handing out water bottles during red flag stops and the cars are stopped out on the track. Those suits have to be really hot. Don't some have frozen packs inside it sometimes?

I'm calling it a night...think warm thoughts!

Thinking of Bopsmom at DW!

I know they have the fans inside the cars too. I've heard them talk about eating bananas because of the potassium. I do remember some drivers get IV fluids before a race......mostly Tony Stewart and Robby Gordon when they would do both Indy 500 and Coke 600 in the same day. Or if they are sick to begin with.

Have a good one M&N.

Morning TKers!

So excited. Don't have to work until next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

JO: I will take as many pictures as I can. We plan on taking two cameras with us so DH will have his and I'll have the one I borrow from my parents.

On the NASCAR subject, I've heard they just pee when they have to so I would assume they have depends like M&N said. Some have bottles of stuff and others do the camel pack thing with the long straw. The first time I brought this subject up to DH and he told me how it worked I was like .

I did not ask my friend today but the gas in FL has been cheaper than here. It's 3.05 at most places here now. I think VA and NC were under 3 too.

Wow. I paid 2.83 yesterday. That's one good thing about Jersey--we have cheap gas, and WE DONT HAVE TO PUMP IT!!!

Mom and I decided not to go to her sister's funeral. Maybe I should start a thread about it and see bhow much I get flamed. Her daughter never called any of her sisters and told them she had gone to the hospital and Hospice. It's at least a 5 hr drive and we could not do that in a day with the service being at 11. They live neat the Blue Ridge Parkway and the weahter is iffy for Tue. So we are not going. They wanted money instead of flowers because she only had a 500 insurance policy. They do not seem to care so we are not going.

So sorry M&N. I agree that not going is a good choice, as long as Mom is good with it. You can remember her in your own way.

Ugh!! TMI...

Off to the gym--I really really really don't want to go. I'm tired, I'm coughing and congested. But I've cancelled so many times, and I want to give my trainer her gift. Then I'm off to work. Gotta avoid all the little babies, since I don't want to give them what I've got.

I just loaded up on Vitamin C, Zinc, expectorant, and antibiotics. Plus a nice big glass of OJ. You can't say I'm not fighting back!

Morning!

Thanks for all the b-day wishes. We had a wonderful day and great weekend.
Strange as it may sound, I am not looking forward to Christmas. Mostly because we have to meet w/ extended family. If it were just us I'd love it. No drama, just a quite day with the kids and my DH would be ideal. Maybe next year we should go away for Christmas.
Found out my wonderful sis had a Christmas dinner/party at her place this weekend. Just for my mom and those "rich" relatives she likes to hang around with. Brother and I weren't even invited. Guess she had a nice big dinner, cookies, gifts, etc. Never puts that on for brother and me. :sad2: We're lucky if she serves us hot dogs and chips when we go there.
Better find my flask before Friday.

Whgrn - HOpe you are feeling better soon. HOw did that HS party go for DD?

M&N - Sorry for your loss. Like everyone else said, if your mom is okay with not going to the funeral than that's all that matters.

Pike - YAY on not working til next year. :woohoo: Although with the kids home next week, that will be a job in itself.

KItty - I see you're learning all the ins and outs of NASCAR. :rotfl2: I guess I never really thought about the drivers excretion issues. :lmao: Now the thought of diapers on a bunch of grown men has me gagging.

See what you miss at night with us...very exciting conversations. That's what happens when Kitty gets on to NASCAR!

I'm just not that thrilled about Christmas this year either. I need to keep focused on why it is and not what we do during it I guess. I'm dreading going to friend's if there's snow. I just hate driving in it. It's about a 55 min drive from Mom's. I told her we need toget some goodies in for us in case we cannot go. I know we will have tons of fruit salad beccause that's what mom is to take. She hasn't told me what to pick up yet. It depends on what stores she can get to. I may just try and give it to her Christmas eve. We are going to her church's service. She comes to Lancaster to church.

I need to get lunch so I can get to work. I think I may take some crackers in case I get hungry. I'm not eating tonight until after 6.

It rained yesterday in Orlando...wasn't supposed to. Poor Holly.

Good afternoon ladies...

thanks for all the input re: Nascar. I know the races are super long, and with all the stress and excitement, I just KNOW someone has to pee!

Its looking good for my drive tomorrow to AC. Still cold, but no snow. We're supposed to get some over the weekend though. No real news on totals, so I'm imagining its not too much.

Cousin is off walking the streets. I told him there's not much to the town, but if that's what he wants to do, so be it.

I have to do laundry. I'll wait til we get back.

Yahoo Pike! No work until next year, but we all have to survive the holidays....

D...I know you're a teensy bit glad that you didn't go to your sis's place over the weekend, but IMO, it sucked that you weren't invited. I hate it when people are just mean to others, so much more so if its someone I care about! Poo on her!

Wendy, you keep on fighting! But don't push yourself too hard...feel better!

I need to plan what I'm going to stock up for this weekend too. I have a ham and some sweet potatoes, but its always good to have snacky food. Going to make cake, I have some carrot sticks that I'll make some honey mustard dip for. Hmmm....

I have a question and maybe some of you will know. Curt's health insurance went up again. It's too the point that we can't afford it through his work and can get it much cheaper on our own. He called the office today and told them that he wants to drop his health care coverage through them. They told him that he is cannot drop it until November of next year at open enrollment time.

I understand with open enrollment, we would not be able to get the insurance again till that time if we wanted it back. But can they make us keep it? Is that legal?

Its my understanding with some insurances that if premiums go up, a client has the right to renegotiate their policy. I don't think they can hold you hostage to your policy, you can drop it. I thought open enrollment meant that you could join at the point. I didn't realize that it was also the time that you could drop it.

Do you have your original policy guidelines to check?

I'm pulling out all the papers they've sent us. And I'm heading to the insurance company's website to see if I can find anything.

It just seems wrong to me. I've never heard of not being able to drop your insurance. What if I got a job and better insurance rates and wanted Curt and the kids on mine instead? We would still have to pay for something we don't want? Ugh!!

Your sister is a b*tthead. Just sayin'...

I think Kitty is right. I don't believe they can make you stay with the plan when they raise the rates. Did you just now find out that the rates are going up? If you found out in November, during open enrollment, then you may have just had a certain time frame to opt out. But if you just learned about it now, I think you can opt out. I'd certainly find out! Also, make sure you're comparing apples to apples--the plan you can get on your own for less may not cover as much. Then again, if the current plan has all sorts of add-ons you don't need, a new plan might be just fine.

Beware though, a self-paid plan can go up A LOT from one year to the next! Mine went up over 20%.

I'm feeling pretty crummy. This thing is sinking lower and lower into my chest. I had to wear a mask at work today to keep my germs from all my little patients. The doc's DH went out and got us all tea from Dunkies, which was great. I was so cold before that, I couldn't get warm. I'm starting to feel sort of bleary eyed now, and the cough is getting worse. Fortunately, the next 2 days aren't too awfully busy, and Thursday is totally open, so I can get some rest. Hope to be well over it all by Friday so I can enjoy the holiday with my family.

M&N, did I miss something? How come you're not eating after 6pm?

I think my dog peed on the rug. I can't see where, but I can smell it. Grrrrr...

Happy hunting Wendy! I've had to do that a few times myself. Like I know there's something, but where the heck is it?

While you're at it, feel better too. I do love my D&D chai...

MK, if you want to learn about Nascar, you should be watching Days Of Thunder.

We haven't had any snow here except for T-day. Maybe it will only snow on holidays here. I can deal with that.

I have some I can send you...really no problem!!

That's sucks about your health insurance...just can't imagine having to deal with that. What do people do that don't have health plans through work? ...or is that who gets medicare? Never did understand your system. :confused3

D ~ sounds like sister's being an A$$ again...sorry don't forget we love you..

W ~ hope you're feeling better.

MK ~ does this mean you'll be joining D's NASCAR fantasy pool??

M ~ Sorry about your Aunt.

The baby is keeping me pretty busy, but I had to stop by real quick. On the side of the highway, in Seguin Texas, I saw a store called D&D Western Wear. So, D&D, when did you open a shop in Texas?

JO - you can drop insurance coverage at any time but may have to show proof you have other coverage. Make sure there is no gap in coverage. The new coverage must take effect the very next day that the other coverage stops. If not, they could get you on pre-x conditions on the new policy. Also, as Whgrn said, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Those single policies don't cover that well and are very expensive. DH's company sells single plans but there are a lot of exclusions. If you want, email me with your questions or new policy coverage and I'll help you. I used to work in health insurance and DH is currently working at one.

M&N - Hope the weather is okay on Christmas. I also hate driving in snow & ice. We're supposed to get snow tonight and more on Christmas Eve. :sad2: Maybe I'll use that as an excuse to stay home from moms.

Kitty - Are you going to AC for the entire weekend?? Is that where you're celebrating Christmas? Maybe I missed something.
