TKers...8 is NOT enough!

St. Lucy was medieval royalty of some sort. She was promised to some guy but she wanted to be a nun. She was married anyway but wouldn't give up her V card. In punishment, her husband had her eyes taken out.

So my costume was a pretty dress with my eyes blacked out carrying a gold platter with fake eyeballs on it.

oh, I would need kid-free zones too. Too much kid interaction may scare BF off!

OMG! I just saw the baby in a walker commercial that M was talking about the other day! Walter is definitely cuter (sorry, commercial baby). Aren't walkers a big no-no now? I know I was put in the walker at 4 months and survived. It was when I started walking as an adult when I had the accidental falls!

oh thanks for the link! Something to plan, even in my pretend life!

Is today a holiday? My mail never arrived...

of course there's another issue with the airports. I'm going down to JFK on Sunday. I've flown on the day they tried to bomb with the liquids, I flew on the Miracle of the Hudson and I flew they had that plane crash near Buffalo. Its enough to give a girl a complex.

Where's my mail?

And its snowing out there!

It's raining here.

They've been talking about tightening security at the airports so make sure you check your Mom's flight.

My mail just arrived! Poor Mr. Mailman. He looked really harried.

Mom's flying international so she has to check in three hours beforehand. THe nice thing about JFK is that there are separate terminals, so not so many people going through security at one time---unless Orlando where its a mass security line.

And we have to get her to the airport early--I have to come on and try to clean for the arrival of Quincy and Alan later that afternoon. They're coming from a doll convention in Vermont so I'm hoping to get a treat myself on Halloween! I'd love one of the Twilight dolls....

So are you really just pretending about taking a cruise or is all the cruise talk we've been doing planting a seed?

oh, I'm planted. I just don't know where to start! Bf isn't sure he's a "cruise person" so we'd have to take a short 3/4 day one first. With that thinking, I'd much rather go out of Port Canaveral and couple it with a US trip. At least I know the Orlando airport and we've driven out there before, so that would be familiar. Everything else? I don't know.

Pike! I'm thoroughly impressed with your cruise knowledge. I'll have to tell BF I have an insider!

The one thing turning me off is having to plan so far ahead! I'm more of a few months ahead of time kinda gal. Was actually thinking of just planning to be in Florida at some point and trying to sweep up a last minute deal. That would be so exciting!

It usually depends on the cruise line. You can get great deals last minute but for a Disney cruise I've heard it gets more expensive. I've been looking at cruises since last year and noticed that the closer they got to the sail date the fewer inexpensive rooms there were on the Disney ships. Plenty of Cat 3,4,5,6; the expensive rooms were left. My parents booked their other cruise not that far in advance. I can't remember exactly the time, maybe 6 months. I only booked ASAP for 2012 because of what I mentioned above. If your only stipulation is that you sail out of PC then you should be able to take a last minute cruise on whatever ship has a cruise available. If you want just the 3/4 nights then check those out and see where they depart from (some are PC some Miami).

All those categories confuse me. I mean, on vacations, we really don't spend that much time in the room. But I would think on a ship, the cheaper rooms will really make a difference? I'm not all about having a balcony or a suite, just something that I can put up with. I plan to be running around the ship all the time.

I'd like to avoid hurricane season as much as possible, so that probably leans towards a spring cruise. Winter is too unpredictable for me to get to the airport and back.

Too many choices! Its making me dizzy!

Ok, so where would you really like to go?

The cheapest room is a Cat 12 or sometimes known as a Cat 11C. That means it's an inside stateroom in the middle of the ship (no port hole) and is located on deck 2 which is way down at the bottom of the ship, closest to the waterline. Depending on how the room is set up you can sleep anywhere from 2 to 4 people. You said you want a 3/4 night so where do you want to go?

Here is a link to the search I did on Carnival Cruise showing 3/4 night cruises http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/SailingSearch/?dat=052011&embkCode=PCV&dur=D1

Here is a link to the search page for RCCL http://www.royalcaribbean.com/finda...ssionid=0000MfXFlc1PYdGNmyTP3iTM3qp:12hdhubrs

The only other cruiseline I see out of PC is Disney.

I could go anywhere...the only time I was in the Caribbean was Turks and Caicos in college, so anywhere would be fun. (and BF has to get a passport first). thanks for those links. I like the 4 night out of Port Canaveral on Royal Caribbean just based on prices. You know I"m cheap and not too picky....

hmmm...plenty of availability for next March and April. Perfect to get out of yucky Northeast thawing.

Is your travel agent a cruise specialist or just someone you've used before? I'm thinking I could do a lot of the planning myself if I go out of Port Canaveral. The only issue would be transportation from the airport to the Port.

Hi to everyone.

I see that the topic of the evening is "CRUSING".

DH and I went on the Royal Caribbean line. We chose the "Freedom Of the Seas". Our room was on deck 2, midship. We had plenty of room.

We are planning to go again on her next year. Aug 28th-Sept4th~deck 8 forward.

DH wanted to try a new ship. I got info on Carnival and NCL. I received all the brochures and DVD's. When I got to looking on line, I found out both cruise lines allow smoking in the rooms. :scared1:

We will stay with Royal Caribbean. I hope to get DH on a Disney Cruise sometime.

We loved Turks and Caicos. We stayed at "BEACHES". I would love to go back there too.

Chat again.

Evening Sukie! thanks for that info...good to know also....both Bf and I are really sensitive to cigarette smoke.

I too would love to do a Disney cruise, but I'll have to really plan for that!

I was at Club Med at Turks. It was a lot of fun and just gorgeous!

I'm pretty certain that my Mom and Dad took a RCCL bus from the airport to the port. They flew in the day before their sail date and spent the night at a hotel near the airport. They called the hotel and the hotel sent a shuttle to pick them up. The next day they (and their luggage) took the shuttle back so that they could catch the RCCL bus that took them to the port. They took that same bus back to the airport when the cruise was over. I'm guessing that is the transfer that they offer for RCCL.

I remember when DH and I went on a cruise long ago (I'm pretty sure it was Carnival) we took a bus from the airport to get to the port. It was a bus for Carnival.

My TA is just a local one that my Mom has used. She had good things to say about her and so far she has answered all my questions.
