Deb ~ So glad that everyone is ok. "NO MORE STORMS". We saw on the news some of what was happening in your state. Extra hugs and prayers still being sent your way.

Thanks Sukie. And thanks to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers. They mean more than you know. :grouphug:

D&D, I am so relieved that you checked in. I must watch the weather out your way as often as I watch it here. You know that you can call anytime. Or if DS needs to talk to another kid, he can call too.

Good morning ladies! We were actually under tornado watch last night from 7-8:30 pm. It did storm here, but nothing more than that. There was some nasty wind and hail about 20 minutes from here.

Its going to be a scorcher today, which probably means it'll be storming this afternoon also.

Ev, do you have Showtime? They're showing a new mini-series called Pillars of the Earth--its based on a book by Ken Follett, which was an Oprah Book Club choice. Anyway, one of the main character, Prior Philip, is played by Matther MacFayden! For two hours, I kept thinking, I know this guy! WHere do I know him? And then it hit me---its Mr. Darcy! Oh, all the more reason to watch it. It was rather good. They have new episodes every Friday night.

D&DDisney Sorry you had to spend 4 hrs under the stairs. At least you didn't have any more damage. :goodvibes

Ah, summer weather  We are under a flood watch today and tomorrow. Since it barely rains at our end of town, I don't expect any excitement. South end of town is another matter.

DH is in a golf tournament today and another one Mon and Tues. Nice to get him out of the house. :lmao:

DL55 - Good luck to your DH in his golf tournament. Hope you don't have too many flooding issues.

Hi Kitty - from The Prez:cool2: I am feeling better today. We are going to the zoo for my dad's work picnic tonight.

Hey Prez...I love to go to the zoo! Except for monkeys. I'm scared of monkeys. Have fun at the picnic too! Have some good food for me!

I'm in the middle to dyeing my hair so I look really scary right now! My hair is sticking up all over the place. And I'm bleaching my teeth so I look like a monster. My cat is scared of me.

Good morning ladies!

Let me just say, I am not as young as I used to be. I spent yesterday afternoon playing catch up with my girlfriend visiting from Scotland. Remarkably, very little has changed since we first became friends in 9th grade, which is very comforting. She's on a whirlwind visit while her husband is attending a symposium on Long Island. I'll see her again next weekend.

We got together with another girl from high school--she has a 15 and 13 y/o! It was just amazing that she has teenagers, when honestly, I don't feel much older than 19 myself. Or is that just wishful thinking?

Last night, I took Dad to see Celtic Woman. I made sure to get there early so he could appreciate the venue. Its really a gorgeous place. http://www.bethelwoodscenter.org/home.aspx You enter on the hill and the pavillion is in the valley below. We had amazing seats too. I knew Dad was appreciating it when he started singing "Amazing Grace" with the rest of the audience. The performances were just amazing. Their voices is quite possibly the closest thing I've heard to angels singing.

During the encore, it started pouring, which just added to the ambiance. Despite the high winds and lightning, they kept singing and we kept enjoying. There was a storm watch out with dangerous lightning. We just waited about 15 minutes after the show until it stopped raining and then we ran to the car.

Being locals, once out of the lot, we were home in 10 minutes. Fantastic! But boy was I tired last night. How am I going to survive another 3 concerts in 2 weeks? But, heck am I going to try!

Hello out there!
I hope everyone is out there enjoying your day. It is raining here, one of the few days I don't walk the dog. It messes up my schedule plus my newspaper is wet. Can't do the crossword until it dries. :upsidedow

Thanking God for answered prayers!!!

I'm home for a bit. I was going to Hershey Park. On my way from Mom's to my house, I heard a tornado warning on the radio...right through where I was driving! I saw bad lightning to the north. I pulled over when the rain was real bad. I did pass some leaves down and there was some wind but it wasn't raining when I got home...BUT...part of a tree was down. It was mine this time. Since spring this is the 3rd tree down around me! It was a tree with a trunk about 4 ft and then 2 big branches out. The one branch fell right along my property line. It hit the neighbor's tree and knocked some of his branches. Thankfully there was a shed nearby but the tree wasn't that tall. So I panicked of course. I tried to get Troy, the guy who does my yard, but just left a message. I called his mother-in-law who is a friend of mine. She said they were on their way back from Hershey and she would call their cell. I call mom who was worried about me anyway when she heard the warning. She had called my cell while I was getting gas. I go out to look at the tree. My neighbor comes back and says he would help Troy get it away. Troy arrives and they discuss what to do. It's raining again. They cannot get it today anyway because of renting a saw. So it will be taken care of! It's not raining now but it did thunder again. Meanwhile, Shirley calls and asks if I am meeting them in Hershey. I say no and explain. They were coming from Harrisburg. I told them 3 trees/branches were across 743 near Etown. My neighbor had just come home before I did and had to detour. So never dull! I'm going back to Mom's soon because I take a friend to the Health Campus at 7 tomorrow am.

Hope everyone else is safe too!

Oh goodness M! You be safe out there, ok?

So, I have internet, obviously. But I have no dial tone. So I call Verizon and explain my dilemma. First representative, not so nice, but did tell me to disconnect everything and try with my corded phone. Still no tone. Call back.

Representative 2 is a darling. Tells me that although my line doesn't say I have a problem, the earliest she can get me a tech to my house is Wednesday, so she thinks it may be outdoor issue too. She then puts a message on my landline that if anyone calls, they'll hear that there's a problem with the phone.

Ok, satisfied with that. Then it occurs to me...how will I know if my phone will "magically" fix itself? So I call back again. Representative 3 is also nice, telling me just to check the phone periodically and I can cancel the tech if my phone comes back. Then he tells me that they'll be here tomorrow. Huh? I thought they said Wednesday....he corrects himself and says, yes I'm scheduled for Wednesday, he just doesn't have his glasses on. While nice, what if he's telling everyone wrong information coz he can't see the screen?

M&N So glad you weren't hurt. Lucky that the tree fell between the houses. :goodvibes

MagiKitty You have your internet what else do you need?

Good afternoon. I just spoke with the phone company. Its definitely something to do with the line outside. Thank goodness! I thought it was something I did....

Ok, so I'm futher miffed with my family. Apparently my brother's family, who were supposed to be back from their vacation Friday night, won't be back until Saturday. My cousin's family was supposed to be here on Saturday. So now I don't know what's going on. Are we preparing for my cousin to stay with me on Saturday--if so, I have A LOT of cleaning to do. I'm hoping that everyone will just get together on Sunday, but that's another issue for me since i was supposed to meet up with my friend from Samoa that day. They'll just have to enjoy without me.

I just hate not having definite plans. I'm not one to fly by the seat of her pants.

DL55...did you crossword puzzle ever dry out? How'd you do? For the Sunday puzzle, I'm lucky if I get three or four answers...I'm not very good at it!

MagiKitty The paper dried out, it's only about 8 pages plus ads. ;)
The crossword puzzles are NOT New York Times quality. :rotfl2: I usually finish them.
Sounds like you have my motivation for cleaning. I need to know someone is coming to get me off my duff to clean the house. :guilty:

I'm not a dirty person, I just like a bit of chaos in my house. I figure its one way to discourage both visitors and burglars. Can't find anything to steal in this joint. And I have cats. Any sort of organization is just calling for them to mess it up. So they win.

The NY Times in general just scares me. I try to get the Sunday paper, but it takes me the entire day to get through it--and that's without attempting to try the crossword! I'm more of a trashy NY Post kinda girl....the paper has about 10 pages of gossip, 5 pages of real news, and the rest is all sports coverge.

:lmao: I only read the local paper to see who was arrested, the comics and the crossword (sometimes the sudoku but it's so tiny I can't read it).

Well, I'm glad to see that you don't read the local paper to see who died! :lmao:
