hee hee...I know that kids are pretty resiliant and that for the first few months at least, their needs are pretty basic--eat, sleep, poop. Just like my cats.
I forgot to add JO that I have a forest behind my house and there are feral cats there. So sometimes some of them seek refuge under my house and yes, I'm that bad neighbour that feeds the stray cats. My first kitty was the last of a "danger litter"--there were five in the beginning but they kept meeting tragic fates. Finally, with one left it was "operation rescue kitty". I literally threw a towel over him and dragged him inside. He lived under the couch for a week until he decided it was cool to come out and adopt me.
My avatar is my cat Meow Ming. He literally showed up on my porch while I was taking the trash out and walked into the house. So I fed him and let him out again. He kept coming back. I asked around my neighbourhood if anyone had lost a cat, even put up a found poster at the grocery. After two months, I just gave in and he's been sitting here ever since.
Baby girl kitty--Jingle Bell---had been living behind my garage for months. She would "help" my dad while he did yard work. Dad "accidentally" left the door open one day and she came in and never looked back.
So that's my herd of kitty babies. They chose us and now are spoiled and expect to be treated like royalty. I love all of them. I figure if they make no moves to try to get out of the house or escape, its a mutual adoption.
