Happy happy birthday Walter! How was that cake? Congrats Mommy and Daddy on your baby's first year!

It was my brother's birthday too--only he's much older than one year. It was nice to get together with the family, although the original plan was a barbecue, we had to take the festivities inside because it was really crazy windy!

Friends from Maryland brought up crabs from the Chesapeake bay--it was messy but really yummy! Nice party overall.

We had a windstorm last night. It totaled our pop up's garage. The frame stayed put but the fabric door is torn off. The blue tarp we had put on top to cover a previous rip was torn in half and now the front half of the garage is wide open. A big branch of a dessert willow broke, it didn't hit anything. Thank goodness for big lots.

Wow! Glad your camper is okay and that nothing major was damaged. Bummer about the fabric garage though.

Didn't sleep well last night for silly purposes. Xanadu was on HBO last night! I had to watch the entire things---and sing and dance. BF put up with it, but he did not enjoy it, especially my renditions. Oh well. It was wonderful. Its still one of my sister and my favorite movies.

You are too funny Kitty. You would be a riot to watch movies with. Especially Xanadu.

My mom's b-day dinner was nice today. We got to take her out by herself - just her and my family. Brother and sister took her out a different night so at least I didn't have to drink heavily today.
Next weekend I won't be so lucky. It is my niece and nephew's b-days so Sat & Sun will be jam packed with family fun!

Weather has been very fall like here. Cool but thankfully sunny. Had my in-laws and BIL/SIL over for dinner yesterday and we couldn't even sit outside for long. Brrr!

Now that everyone is in bed, I have some time to post.

We had our big picnic yesterday. Things went pretty well even though my dad couldn't bother to show up. Or even let me know that he couldn't make. I had to hear it from my brother. I'm done witching about it. I have my friends and family and I know who they are. He made his choice.

We had marinated chicken, hot dogs, burgers, sausage, 2 kinds of potato salad, macaroni salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs, 2 kinds of BBQ and rice and beans. I have enough food left over to last the whole week.

D&D, I'm so glad you got to spend time with your mom and just your family. As much as I like having big family get togethers, sometimes just one on one time is what you really need.

Mere, I hope you feel better soon.

DL55, we've had some crazy winds here lately too. My SIL bought one of those canopy things for the picnic and they winds were strong enough to snap one of the arms.

MK, Xanadu is ok but how about Grease? For the next TKer meet, maybe we could do a Grease theme. Jackie even told me that 50's style clothes are coming back in style including updated poodle skirts.

Good morning ladies! So nice to hear that the weekend plans went well and were spent with those you love. JO--all that food sounds so yummy!

Its gotten really fall-like here too. Crisp and chilly in the morning, mild during the day. It'll make the drive to Rochester on Wed really nice, but now I have to rethink my wardrobe. I think there was mention of some hiking somewhere in there too-oh no!

I love Grease and even its lesser sister Grease 2. Didn't I tell you this before? For my kindergarten graduation, I sang "Hopelessly Devoted to You"---seems creepy now, but at the time I was really cool...I'm a huge Olivia fan!

Well its the -ber months now, so the holidays can't be far away! At least according to the Filipino channels. I watch their version of the morning shows and they're already listening to holiday carols! But it seems that for all of us, September is birthday month--holiday babies! (wink, wink)

Thank you Thank you Everyone for all the wonderful Walter birthday wishes. I think he had a great day. It went by SO fast. And I made it through only tearing up once or twice.
We did end up with over 50 at Walter’s party. He did awesome. Got passed around like a champ and everything. He’s such a social butterfly.
Cake was a bit of another story. He DID touch it after some coaxing, but once he noticed that his hands were dirty he just started to cry.
Maybe next year.


Deb - Glad to at least hear you could have one good birthday dinner this month. Sorry you have to face the un-nice people next weekend.

Jo-- My father and I went through some problems years ago. So if you EVER feel the need to “witch” about the way he is acting you know where to find me. Don’t hold it in like I did, I swear at times all the anger ended up making me sick.

Pike--hope you and the family are all doing ok. It’s so hard to lose someone, and sometimes after all the plans are done is when it hits.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'd like to share the joke that my DH told that had the crowd laughing and that is totally what FIL wanted.

A man was walking back home when he noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery.

A long black hearse was followed by a second long black hearse about 50 feet behind. Behind the second hearse was a solitary man walking with a dog. Behind that were 200 men walking in a single file.

He respectfully approached the man walking with the dog and said, "I am so sorry for your loss, and I know now is a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral procession like this. Whose funeral is it?"

The man replied, "Well, that first hearse is for my wife. My dog attacked and killed her."

He inquired further, "Well, who is in the second hearse?"

The man answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to help my wife when the dog turned on her."

After a moment of silence he asked, "Can I borrow the dog?"

The man with the dog replied,

"Get in line."

RIP FIL. You were the best FIL that a DIL could ever have.
