If you do, please give her my warmest regards and tell her to drive safe!

So good to hear that you're feeling better and have marked improvement. You'll have to put on spacegear to do yard work next time!

No more front yard work for me. Once things calm down here a bit, Curt and his sister are going to pull everything out of the front, tarp the ground and mulch everything in. Our house is on a hill so it will be easier to take care of anyway.

I'll pass on your regards to M&N.

When are you going to Kansas again?

I'll be there from 9/21 to 9/25. 3,358 miles roundtrip and a free international flight!

Wow! That's a lot of miles in just a couple of days. But awesome on getting that free flight.

Any big plans for out there? You must have something up your sleeve.

of course I do! We're staying at the casino the first night, a comped room! We're going to hit that children's museum and the zoo this time. Last time we were there, it was really really hot and too miserable to do outdoor things. We're also going to a cider mill for doughnuts and caramel apples with the nieces.

That sounds like fun. I love going to the zoo. And caramel apples are so much better than candy apples. I may have to get one when we go to the fair this weekend.

And how did I know you would work a casino in there somewhere?

we didn't really have plan to. but a free room and a pillowtop bed could not be passed up! We also get free buffet dinners. I'm worried that I"m on some gambling watch list.

I love local fairs. And I much prefer caramel apples too. With nuts. Or chocolate covered with sprinkles. If you're going to be bad, be very very bad!

Wait, I thought you had a big family shindig this weekend?

Yep, the picnic is on Saturday. And then Sunday we are going to the fair and meeting up with one of my Aunts I haven't been close to in years. She had a big fight with my dad and somehow my brother and I got pulled into it. I just decided to email her on facebook and get things out in the open. We are going to meet there as someplace neutral and just see what's what. Life is just too short, you know.

oh that's wonderful! I have some of that in my life too. All I know is that SOMETHING happened, but not really sure what and really shouldn't let it stand in the way. Hope you reconnect well and find a friend that you didn't know you had.

Well, I'm not a nightowl like you are. Going to head to sleepy land. You should too if you're cooking again! Night darling! Hope you're fully recovered sooner rather than later!

I'll be up early tomorrow to hit the grocery store.

Have a good one.

Night MK!

MK, I want to dye my hair a dark blue. Or maybe a dark purple color.
I'm thinkin' you should dye it in Oct. And the family too. :rotfl2: And bring some along cuz my kids will want to dye theirs too.

Any big "announcements" while you're in Kansas???;)

Pikester - How is your DH handling all this? The pain of losing someone is tough no matter how sick they are. We'll be thinking of you and your family and praying that nothing spoils that wonderful "Celebration of his life" cookout.

Much cooler and windy here today. Only a high in the 60s. I've got all the windows open and am airing out the house. Feels so good.

Well, I figured out how I got that hole in my sock the other day. Stepped on a piece of glass that must have been embedded in the carpet. Didn't feel it until yesterday morning when I stepped on my big toe just right. OUCH!!!:headache: It must be awful small or in there quite far because I can't see it on the outside. But when I step just right it hurts like 1000 tiny needles and the pain shoots up my foot.

The in-laws are coming over tomorrow for supper and then on Sun. we are taking my mom out for a birthday dinner. Any other big plans for the weekend?

Afternoon!

D&D:Thank you for asking about DH. He is doing fine so far. I'll have to see how he is doing once all the busy stuff for the funeral is done. We have our fingers crossed that "Earl" stays away for the burial and cookout. According to the recent weather report Earl should be out of here by 6AM on Saturday morning.

FIL was one very interesting man. He told my MIL that when he passed he wanted to be positioned in his casket so that his hand would be flipping the bird. She told the funeral director that and he said that they couldn't do that because of how the body is after death. So, instead, DH found a joke to have in the casket with FIL so that everyone would have one last laugh the way my FIL wanted them to.

Here is the joke:

When I was younger I hated going to weddings. It seemed that all of my aunts and the grandmotherly types used to come up to me, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, 'You're next.'

They stopped that **** after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

To you Jim (FIL), it's been a true honor to have known thee.

Pikester Sounds like your FIL had a sense of humor. I like that joke.

JOCAmom Glad the swelling is going down.

We had a windstorm last night. It totaled our pop up's garage. The frame stayed put but the fabric door is torn off. The blue tarp we had put on top to cover a previous rip was torn in half and now the front half of the garage is wide open. A big branch of a dessert willow broke, it didn't hit anything. Thank goodness for big lots. :goodvibes

Just have a minute but wanted to let you all know that I talked to M&N and she is not anywhere near the coast of NC. The hurricane had no affect on them and they didn't even get any rain.

She says "HI" to everyone.

Evening ladies...don't really know what I did with my day, but I looked at the clock and its nearly 6pm somehow!

Thanks for checking up wit M, JO. Glad to hear she's safe and enjoying.

Hugs, Pike and family.

Oh Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear about your garage and stuff! When are you scheduled to leave for your Cali trip?

D...so scary to think you're still finding glass. Be careful! And glad it was just a little bit and not a big one.

I'm getting so excited to see my sister and friends next week! The boys have their plane tix, my nephew is my official co-pilot, and I'm getting the newest update for my GPS. A doll collector friend has a store nearby, so we're going to stop in and visit too. Looking forward to enjoying the last days of summer with some of my other favorite people in the world!

Good evening everyone!!! Its about that time when the weather sends my health through a loop. I saw it coming and WHAMO here it is.....

Went to bed Sunday night with a hardcore stuffy nose and runny itchy eyes to the point I couldnt stand it. Woke up Monday morning feeling no better and was actually surprised to survive the night with one of my girlfriends from college whom had come home to visit (felt pretty bad that I had fallen asleep early on her though :/). Got up the next morning for work feeling worse and it just seemed to only be getting worse by the hour. Wednesday night I was convinced that it was over and done with when mother nature hit me with another heat wave of a day and then to top it off, she hits me today with the cool temperature front!!!! So now my lungs are all outta whack (in fact, I'm on a breathing treatment as I type this and gonna need another one in 5 hours) and I'm still conjested with runny eyes.

Sorry about the rant/complaint/tirade. Couldn't hold it in any longer.

Pikester, your FIL Sounds like he was wonderful. I love a good sense of humor it gets you through so much toughness in life.

Hello everyone! Just checking in.

Good morning ladies! Yesterday we were all worried about Hurricane Earl but thankfully he weakened. But today its quite chilly, fall-like weather.

Didn't sleep well last night for silly purposes. Xanadu was on HBO last night! I had to watch the entire things---and sing and dance. BF put up with it, but he did not enjoy it, especially my renditions. Oh well. It was wonderful. Its still one of my sister and my favorite movies.

Mere, sorry to hear about your health issues! Maybe you do need to get a comprehensive checkup. Remember, your body is all connected. So maybe your allergies, sinuses, lungs and everything is acting up together. I suffer from allergies also, but not nearly to the extreme that you do. Feel better and hope you find some relief!

Have my brother's birthday party later today and just can't seem to get in the social mood. Sleepy still I guess. I'll get there though.

Hi pepper! How are you? How are you spending the holiday weekend?

Hoping everyone is enjoying the holiday. :cheer2:

lilmis Get better! :flower3:

Football season has started. DH has begun talking to the TV. :happytv:

MagiKitty We are leaving on the 13th. Since the garage is just fabric we'll deal with it when we get back (think LARGE tarp). ;) Tarps are a lot cheaper than the fabric garage.
