Good morning ladies!
Marie, if your niece is interested in NY shopping, I recommend she start on Fifth avenue and work her way down. Tell her to start at FAO Schwarts--its on 58th and 5th. Everyone should go there. Its also where the Apple Store is, and CBS studios, where they film the morning show. Its near Bergdorf Goodman, which has fantastic store windows and the famous Plaza hotel. Then just walk down Fifth, all the famous stores will be there.
Also go to Macys in Herald Square. They have fantastic old wooden escalators. The entire area is also shopping and not too far from the Empire State building.
Anyone visiting the city I always tell them to get the
CityPass. Its a bundled tourist attraction package. It ends up being way cheaper and a good idea of the stuff to see like the Empire, Rockefeller center, etc. Even in the winter, the Circle Line is a lot of fun. Or the bus tour.
Tell her to take the Staten Island ferry for a free view of Lady Liberty.
Times Square is also fun, but also go at night, where its almost as bright as daytime with all the lights. Get discounted Broadway show tickets at the TKS stall there too.
More shopping? Head down to Chinatown where they have great stalls and better food. I always recommend having lunch in Chinatown and dinner around the corner in Little Italy. Shop in between. Lots of cute galleries down there.
Hmmm....if your niece knows what she's interested in, let me know.
