In Jan. 2006 I'm taking my 1st Disney cruise along with my 16th trip to WDW. We booked the package, which I NEVER do. It seemed convenient. Now I'm trying to figure out if this is a decent deal or not.

I feel the only thing that makes it a "deal" is that we get 7 day PH passes with the Land/Sea package. Obviously, we will use only 2 of the 7 days while we are there, so I'm planning to pay the extra $55 to make them "No expiration" This way I will get the entire package PLUS come home with a 5 day PH pass.

Thoughts on my thinking?

Try pricing all the components of your trip separately and see what figure you come out with....cruise, WDW hotel, tickets, meals, etc.

Meals are not included in the WDW stay on the package but as you mentioned, tickets are.

People have found it to work in their advantage both ways....a lot depends on time of year, resort you want at WDW, etc. Can't hurt to price it out separately!!!

Odd, when I spoke to a DCL CM re 2006 bookings earlier this year, I was told that they'd be switching over to the MYW base ticket, with PH option, on trips beginning 1/01/06. My since cancelled original trip confirmation contained this info. WDW is/has phased out the "old" PH tix, don't think you can purchase them anymore (except thru the tix brokers). The MYW tix offered expired & did not include the water parks, etc. The base tix expires 14 days after lst use. Of course, we could add on the "no expiration" option for an additional fee ($35 pp). Unless they've changed their policy again, you might be confusing the MYW PH option with the old PH tix. Perhaps you should call again to clarify. :confused3 Post back & let us know.

FYI, I priced out cruises from mid Jan thru early March, 06 (with early booking discount still in effect). On Verandah rooms & deluxe resorts, they beat pricing them out separately even with AAA discounts. Of course, if they offer you free dining, all bets are off. Good Luck in your planning.

Yes, I did mean the MYW w/ PH. I was told that they are now 7 day instead of the 14 day :sad2: I don't feel like our package is a deal, except for this possibility. I feel like I will get the extra 5 days "virtually" (+the no expiration fee) for free. Is this thinking correct?

You may want to look into that- I was able to book an extra night at CBR, receive an extra day of PH tix, and I got the dining plan for $200 more than the original price for my land/sea package. I cancelled the land portion and rebooked it myself with the extra night and the dining.....It all depends on what you want included. BTW, on the disney website you can save up to 5 vacation plans- useful for comparing packages. Good luck!
