Is there a thread explaining the Tables in Wonderland option? Trying to decide on whether to purchase the DDP. Thank you

Thank you for this info it does help. How do you get the Tables in Wonderland card? I see it cannot be used for special dining events bu can you use it for Character Dining?

You must be either a Florida resident, Annual Passholder, or DVC Owner.
Yes it can be used for character meals.

I am a DVC owner. So do I need to do anything to get the 20% off or does it automatically come off with scanning the magic band? Thank you for the info.

I tell our server that we are using TiW when they ask if we are on the dining plan. As we get near the end of the meal, I leave my TiW and driver's license on the table. They will take my cards and return will the check/bill showing the discount.

The card works out great for us, needing to carry the card and id is a pain though.

FYI, if you use TiW the tip is already added. There is still a blank tip line when signing the check so I often end up double tipping & can be frustrating when service is less than stellar. So beware this when paying.

You can have the manager adjust the tip if you feel it is necessary due to poor service. Ive done this one or two times in the many years Ive been a TIW.

We never tell them until the end because we don't want them to know they have an automatic 18% coming.

On the tip line, we just write "INC."

Never had to show ID, either. I don't even remember whose name the TiW is in. We have paid at different times with three different people's CCs & nobody has ever cared. (Same last name, but different first names.)

OHHH, I never the server knowing the tip would "only" be 18%. Good point. I have been asked for my ID which is why now offer it up but I agree they've really never cared about the credit card.

We have been very happy with the TiW card. Whether it will save you money really depends on where you eat and how often you visit.
In general, without any other discounts, yo need to spend $750 on meals/alcohol to save money.
If you have an AP, that gives you 10% at many restaurants, so yo uneed to spend closer to $1500 to break even.
You can use it for groups up to 10, bu you must be the one to pay the bill.
As others have said, it automatically adds an 18% tip.

I don't think we have ever felt like we got leser service because our server knew we had the TiW card.

We just got the TiW card in December when we activated our APs. We weren't able to use it at Crystal Palace or Morimoto Asia on Christmas Day (blackout day) but saved quite a bit just in that trip. We're going again in Feb and May and possibly twice more this year. I expect it will have fully paid for itself in May if not earlier. We were saving $20-30 per TS meal. Also, not only does TiW offer 20% discount rather than 10% for AP, but it has the discount on alcohol and we usually have at least one glass of wine per meal.

You don’t have to tell them up front. It’s not a dining plan. TIW is not what they are asking about.

Never had to show ID, either.

I have. Every time.

It’s not about it “only” being 18%. It’s about them knowing they will get -8% automatically and maybe not doing their best.

I’m not concerned about that, but then I don’t tell them up front about the card, since they don’t care; they are asking about *plans* so they can explain what items are included on the plan and how that might change the order.

How long is it good for. The last time we had it a few years ago I thought it was good for 13 mos although website says 1 yr. If I buy it on 10/5 will it expire 10/5 the next yr or at the end of Oct the next yr?

We don’t tell them at the beginning because we don’t want them to think they’re getting only 18%. Service might suffer.

If you buy it on 10/5 it should expire on November 30 of the next year. I know what the website says but we’re on our 8th card and they give you the entire purchase month and then the next 13 months.

Ok thanks! That’s what it was when I had it a few years ago.
