Can anyone explain to me how the Tables in Wonderland program works? We will be upgrading our passes to the Premium Passport once we arrive, so I know that we'll get discounts at a couple of restaurants, but it seems like they are few and far between. I can't decide if the TIW would be beneficial, since you have to pay $75 just to get the card.

We will be there for 13 days, and will eat 25 meals on WDW property: roughly 13 QS and 12 TS. It seems like even if we eat conservatively (which is not common, with two teenage boys) we would get discounts above and beyond the original $75.

I am hoping someone can explain the system to me. :goodvibes

i just came on to post the exact same thing (except i don't have 2 teenage boys, i have a 2 year old boy and a bun in the oven). hoping we get some good insight. it seems like a good deal to me!

Tables in Wonderland discounts are offered at the majority of TS restaurants in the World, as well as a limited number of CS locations, mainly at value resorts & AK.

The Disney site is confusing - it is very easy to confuse their list of AP discount restaurants (which are pretty few and limited times and meals) with their TiW information.

If you spend $375 in eligible food/beverage purchases, you will break even based on the $75 price for AP holders.

My family of 4 (2 A, 2C) broken even in only a few days on our last few TiW purchases. And then we were able to continue to use it on future trips since it is good for just over a year.

I think it's well worth it.

Ideally, we try to stagger annual trips: February followed by January. 11 months apart. We get APs, which we can use for both trips, and TiW at the beginning of the first trip. We have broken-even after the first trip twice in a row now, so our savings during trip #2 will be gravy. In both cases, the first trip each year was just my wife and I, heavy on signature dining, so that helped break-even earlier, but both trips were short, so that's probably a wash.

I just want to confirm that one $75 card is enough to get the discount for the whole ticket, right?

Also, at a restaurant that already offers 10% discount for the AP, is it replaced by the 20% TIW discount?

I believe the card is good for (single) parties of ten.

You cannot stack discounts - choose one or the other.

Here is a list of the restaurants that take the TIW card:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneydiningexperience.htm

As a PP said, the Disney website is confusing because it actually lists the restaurants that give an AP discount by showing just the AP and it's a much shorter list than the TIW restaurants.

One card is good for the cardholder plus 9 more people. The cardholder has to be at the meal, although someone else in the group can be the one who pays.

Also, the card is good for a little over one year in that if you were to get it in May of this year, it will be good until June 30 of next year.

We broke even plus a bit over, with 3 people (2 adults, 1 six year old), with one table service per day for less than 10 days (with almost no alcohol and sharing food at one of those meals). I think you'll go over the breaking even point on the 3rd day. :) I'd do it!

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratuity added.

100.00 - Original Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Amount of Bill
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

(Note - At Victoria and Albert's the added gratuity is 20% instead of 18%.)
* Ignore the asterisks; they are there only so the columns/numbers line up properly.

It looks like we will definitely be doing this. Does anyone know where we will need to go to buy this card?

We bought our TIW card at the MK tickets window just outside the entrance. I presume you can at the other parks also, but am not sure. The only other thing to mention is that the TIW is only in one person's name and that person must be present at the meal. The card is in my name, so I have to be at the meal to use the card for a discount (they check this fairly carefully).

The card is great though, it's really saves us money.

You can buy it at any Guest Relations window - parks or DTD, and you can do it while buying your AP. We just got new APs and a new TiW card in April at DTD.

I know a lot of times we focus on how much money you can save by using TiW at TS restaurants, but don't forget about some of the CS restaurants where you can use it too! The savings may look minor at first, but if you're able to use it at a few CS time after time, you're gonna see those dollars add up too! And with CS meals, remember there's no gratuities!

We've used TiW at Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory (food court at POFQ) many times! We love their ribs for dinner! :lovestruc And hubby is addicted to beignets...

TiW is also good at all the value resort food courts (All-Star's & POP), and at some of the CS restaurants in Animal Kingdom - Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, & Restaurantosaurus.

Two adults going for the length of time that you're going would easily benefit from using TiW... when you throw in your two teenage boys, it's a no-brainer! You're gonna get lots of use from that card! Consider tallying up the savings each time you use it - it may shock you!

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

We had an adult only trip in January and skipped the DDP, but also skipped the Tiw which was a mistake! We are going to try it for the first time in a few months. I think it will work out well for our next two trips and I'm anxious to compare it to DDP for our family.

i'm convinced :)

we're hoping to go to WDW in sept and will purchase it then. our APs expire the following week so having the APs and the TIW card good through about the same time each year will be a little less confusing :)

thanks for the input and examples everyone! love the dis!

We love our TIW card.

Since we normally stay at All Star Music, our breakfast qualifies. And now and then we actually go back to the resort for a late lunch and some pooltime, so once again we get that discount.

I also appreciate that it counts for wine and beer purchases. I try to talk my DD8 into picking up her candies/sweets at the food court (as opposed to in the parks) so that the discount will apply.

Last time, they gave us the discount on the refillable mugs, but I don't think we were entitled to that.

We also splurged and ate at our first signature restaurant on our last trip...so the card was a huge help!

I keep forgetting it's good at AK counter service! We don't spend much time at AK , but I really need to make a point of remembering this.

Your AP and TiW will never really be in synch. For example, I bought my last TiW card on 6/7/10 and it is valid through 7/31/11. There is no renewal discount; all purchases are considered new. So the first time I will need the card in August I will buy one then and it will be good though 9/30/12.

I just want to double check that I understand something...we are planning to eat breakfast at the POP while we are staying there, and does that mean I'll be able to use the TIW each time?

Yes, the All Stars and POP food courts participate in the TiW program. You will be able to apply the discount to your breakfast there.
