For our Nov 2016 trip my wife and I will officially become Annual Passholders! Along with that excitement we also plan on get a TIW card. We've are tentatively looking at about 20 days in WDW during the year our AP is active.
We have two family trips planned. My TIW questions are..................pixiedust:

When paying am I required to use my credit card when using the TIW discount? Or can my brother pay and we use my TIW discount?

For our family trips we do plan on treating on a couple of meals (hey its family :-)) Just looking to understand the rules.

Thank you in advance for any help given :D

The CC needs to match the TIW name.

TIW's rules are that the CARDHOLDER must pay the bill. As to whether that rule will be followed at every restaurant, experiences vary, but you should expect to be told that you have to pay the bill. There were a few reports of some places (usually lounges) denying the discount after seeing cash change hands between the cardholder and the cardholder's guest, but those were really rare reports and I've never experience that. But I have had a number of servers check and make sure the name on the credit card was mine.

I've had it work both ways .... My girlfriend and I both have TiW cards ... We seem to always get them mixed up. I've used my card with hers and vice Versa many times.

I've gotten a few questioning looks, but I've not been asked to provide matching cards.

But maybe because both our names are in the Disney master-database of there too often, they understand my wallet is on speed dial with their system.

We have used our TIW when dining with multiple families (many times) and have never had an issue splitting the bill between two different credit cards. (I think we even used 3 credit cards once!) We were prepared to pay the entire bill on our card and settle up later, but it was not necessary. We simply asked our server if we could split payment and were always graciously accommodated. It never hurts to ask!

From the tables in wonderland website "Credit Cards used for payment must match the name on the Tables in Wonderland card and the state identification."
That said, there have been times where my guests have paid and there was no issue but dont be surprised if they dont allow it.

This has been our experience as well.

Thanks everyone. In my head I knew these would be the responses.........never hurts to ask :)

So is it allowed to use a disney gift card or disney visa rewards card to pay and still get the TIW discount?

It has been years since I was and AP/TiW member, but I used a Disney gift card as payment for most of my meals while a member and still go my TiW discount.

I am a new TIW card holder but my understanding is that Cash and Gift cards are widely accepted while they can be stricter with Credit cards. I have 2 cards (one for me and one for hubby) we are travelling with a large group We told everyone to bring cash or gift cards to pay. I also told them to expect to use the WHOLE giftcard no splitting. if worse comes to worse they will give me the cash/giftcard and I will charge to my room and pay after.

my friend just gave me Disney gift cards to pay for her share of meals. Worked out fine.

My mother wanted to pay at BOG with her Credit Card, and was not allowed to because the TIW is in my name, I recommend having your brother purchase a few gift cards to pay for the meals that he wants to. If he forgets to do this before you get to WDW, there are gift cards available for purchase all over the parks.

We were just there and used our TIW card a few times. The card you are paying with (or the magic band) must match. And it cannot be split. A few times my husband had to show his photo ID as well.

I have had TIW for 2 years. My DH always pays with his CC but he is not on the TIW card.

So I can conclude from the responses here..............it's an inexact situation? o_O

It's almost like asking "will I be carded when I buy a drink?"
The rule is that you payment has to match TiW cardholder and you have to show ID. We had some waiters who didn't ask me for any ID at all...just the TiW card was enough.
Now I had a TiW and traveling with just DH and my kids (or just DH on one trip).
I imagine that if you are traveling with a large group and making all kinds of splitting the bill requests, your factor for being asked to follow the rules goes up.

And you didn't ask, but I almost always had to show my ID and my little passholder card when trying to get a passholder discount on merchandise.

what we did was get an AP voucher..paid for it on line ..didnt activate it until we went to a park...at guest relations.. then bought the TIW card at the same time..had to show proof as in photo ID...it was simple..we paid for the ap ahead of time and then the TIW when we got to GR

We also had our son and dil with us..so they used their Gift cards ..passed them to me and I paid for their meals at the resorts food court or at the restaurants we went to..so I had close to 1000 in gift cards that time..worked great
