TIW Price Increase!

I have to say I was absolutely sticker shocked when I just checked my email inbox. Not sure if this has already been touch on on the boards regarding the TIW annual membership increase of $50!! WOW!! Really?? I have sifted through their website to see if "MAYBE" they added something more to it take make it worth that jump in price?? Did I miss it??

Lucky for us, we actually just renewed in August but I'm really going to rethink whether it will be worth renewing next year for the FL resident rate of $175? (that's well over $800 in food purchases to get close to just breaking even and they have gotten very "particular" regarding the restaurants that participate and blackout times, etc). Are they trying to shy us FL Residents away from this option? Even AP/DVC went up to $150. Are any TIW members reconsidering joining again once their membership expires?

Just a heads up, I just saw this thread a bit farther down the page. I still gotta give it a read, this is a huge increase, yikes! Hoping someone shows the math on the break even point, lol.

Luckily we are just sneaking in our 3rd week-long trip with TIW. I'll renew if we plan on going to more expensive and/or character meals for our next trip! If not, probably not.

I recently heard a rumor they were actually going to discontinue the TIW program. Not sure this is better, lol! Or maybe after many people decide to not get a new TIW card, then they'll drop it. Ugh!

That's what I'm starting to wonder about. TIW started way before the DDP (was DDE and if I recall was called something else prior). And now that DDP seems to be the dominant dining plan maybe that is the thinking...sure is starting to seem that way...
