TiW Price Increase

The percentage of this increase is astronomical. 33% for AP and DVC members and 25% for Florida Residents. Too much, too fast! What happened to the $5 to $10 increases we used to see for TiW?

And as I said above, what does this cover? There can't be much overhead, unless there is a sizable kickback to the participating restaurants. The special events offered by TIW seem to be completely covers by the fee they charge, given how much they charge for those events.

I'm sure the vast majority is distributed to participating restaurants. Otherwise, what's the incentive to sacrifice 20% of revenue?

I would imagine that the TIW card is designed to get either more AP sales, or more Dining sales to offset the costs of the discount. It doesn't make business sense for them to just give a discount out of the goodness of their hearts.

If the DVC member price goes to $125 that means you have to spend about $625 just to break even. I think we bought our last TIW card.

Boy I agree if this is true last TIW for us too...thank goodness we just bought last on in Oct...so goes to next Nov...not worth it for the 2 of us... we got the PAP this year because is was slightly more than renewal.

ITA. We are eating on property less and less often. The food is mostly way overpriced in relation to the quality. We always rent a car so it is easy to go elsewhere. I will think long and hard before buying TIW again. And if I don't buy it, we will eat on property even less.

Yes that is what I was thinking too, just rent a car and eat off property, we found a lot of places we prefer with better and cheaper food... Plus after 12+ years of going it is the same old food or the food you like is taken off the menu... I hate when I don;t read the menu before we go in and find out what was our favorite thing is gone... very sad...

Couldn't agree more, Jean. My DH is a numbers cruncher and after our last dinner at California Grill, he said we might as well go to V&A next trip.

We love several restaurants in Celebration and have also been trying some further afield. Ravenous Pig, for instance, is great.

Same here. I was willing to pay $75 as an AP holder, but I will not pay $100.

We're not visiting the parks this time, so we'll be doing most of our meals off-property anyway but I'm definitely not looking forward to that. The price might be a little lower but I'd much rather just park the car and not have to worry about "commuting to lunch".

We only notice things taken off the menu when we like them. I'm sure they take things off the menu all the time that we don't notice.

Maybe the next trip we will only eat at Citrico's on property, with the member perk of a 10% discount.

Wish we had been given a warning. We just left out on Dec 1 and my current card is expiring the end of December. I have another trip planned in January and would have purchased it before I left, as it would have covered through Jan 2014 at least. It still may be worth getting it as we have Jan and May trips and most likely one more before the end of 2013. The lunch at CRT alone will be $200 without the TIW card, so the savings there will be substantial.

Love the PAP discount though! especially when combined with the Disney gift cards from Target (saves another 5%)!
