I got the email for the upcoming wine dinner at Jiko with wines from Paul Cluver winery. We've been going to wine dinners for years, at different local restaurants, and we pay on average $80 pp plus tax & tip. One of those dinners last year was with Paul Cluver wines. Looking over the menu from that dinner and comparing it to the upcoming Jiko dinner, the wines are similar (some identical) and the courses are similar in number. So why is the price double? Any opinions?

Because it's Disney.

All of the wine dinners that I went to at Disneyland ran about $135 pp, plus tax and tip. The notifications that I'm receiving from them now run between $175 and $200 pp including tax and tip.

When they had the short-lived Food and Wine Festival at DLR, I'm pretty sure wine dinners were running between $125 and $150 plus tax/tip. We could do wine dinners on the west side of Los Angeles for a much lower cost but we still enjoyed the time at the parks and their dinners as well.

I guess it comes down to whether you want to shell out the cash or not. We don't any longer because the flights add another $500 pp for a one-night affair.
