TIW, DP, and valet parking?

We will probably add a Dining Plan for our upcoming trip. However, we have TIW.

Can we valet park using our TIW card if we are going to pay for our meal with the DP?


I see a thread asking a similar question, but I'm wondering about the parking if I don't use TIW for any of the meal.

I know you'll need to show a receipt for your meal at the restaurant at that resort, but I'm not sure if it must show you used the TIW discount.

Seems logical to me that the point of showing your receipt is to see that you USED your TIW card. Anyone using the DP could dine at a resort restaurant and show their receipt. That doesn't mean they have a TIW card.

But at most resorts, the valets never want to see my receipt, they just ask to see my card when I pull up. Except for the BWI - they always ask for the receipt there. So I suppose you could chance it, but you would risk getting stuck with a $14 valet charge!

You could buy some appetizers and wine and use TIW for that.

Yes, you have to actually use the TIW card and the receipt will note Wonderland Food 20% or Wonderland Bev 20%. The do care that it says this and I know this because when I ate at Flying Fish, I had wine and a cheese board on a separate check and it wasn't until I left that I realized the server did NOT apply my TIW discount. (just one of many things wrong with that dining experience) They let me off the hook, but said next time I needed to make sure the receipt notes TIW.

cbg1027 - I'm not sure how recently you've use TIW for valet parking, but now all the valet resorts not only ask for the receipt, they log it in a book. I'm not sure what the purpose of the log is, but before free valet for DVC members went away, my experience was they never asked for the receipt (when I was DVC but not staying on points). Since free valet for DVC went away, they always ask for the receipt.
