TiW and Coupons or Gift Certificates

I guess I'm mostly interested in buying some of the gift certificates on restaurants.com. I haven't done so yet. As I understand it, it's presented at the restaurant as a gift certificate ($25, $50, etc.) But we know that when we buy them we can get these certificates for $2-$10. So it basically seems like another coupon.

Does anyone know if TiW will be accepted along with these gift certificates?

Thanks.

No, they are handled separately. I was at Shula's last month in a party of 5. Two of our party had the Restaurant.com certificate, and the 3 of us with Tables in Wonderland had our own separate check. They don't stack coupons or discounts.

Oh, so my husband could have his meal on a separate check with the gift certificate. Then I could get the other four on TiW. Is that correct?

Each certificate has its own requirements. The one I got for Il Mulino requires a purchase of 2 entrees and the one for House of Blues requires a minimum $35 purchase.

BriarRosie - I think you did what we are hoping to do at Il Mulino. There are 4 of us and I was hoping that if we did separate checks, one couple could use the certificate and the other the TIW discount. Thanks for posting your experience.

I'll be travelling alone in November. Looking at their menu and prices on the "Eticket" app, I think I can easily order $35 worth of food (appetizer, entree, side dish and dessert). So if my bill comes to $35, plus the $2 I spend on the $25 off coupon, I will spend $12 + tip.

Am I figuring this correctly? :confused3

Yes you are figuring correctly. 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill before the discount is taken off. I just pulled out my certificate to read through everything. I see one problem for you. It says, "Valid for parties of two (2) or more unless otherwise stated." I don't understand why that matters as long as you are spending the minimum amount, but that is what it says.

I have a restaurant .com coupon for the Blue Zoo. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions for using restaurant.com coupons on holidays?

Restaurant.com's website shows nothing about the number of guests for this coupon. It says:

"Minimum purchase of $35. 18% Gratuity added prior to discount. Cannot be use for Gospel Brunch, on Holidays or Special Events. "

Maybe I should call the HOB manager to ask before I buy the gift certificate.

That's what I would do. Good luck.

I traveled solo in May and had a restaurant.com certificate. Didn't have a problem spending $35 at HoB but they wouldn't accept the TIW discount, too. One or the other.

I am visiting again - tomorrow, actually - and have HoB ADR's with another family. We both have the certificate but I think only one of us can use it. So, I'll use my TIW discount instead and use my $25 certificate (bought for $2) on another day.

Have fun on our solo trip!

So they did accept the $25 off HOB certificate from Restaurant.com on your Solo dining? Do you think I should call the manager to find out? Since I won't have a car and will be planning for this to be one of my meals, I don't want any surprises when the bill comes!

So if you get a $25 gift cert. for $2, you save $23. So if you're in a position of trying to decide if you should use TiW or the cert., it would make sense to use TiW if the bill was going to be over $115. At $115 (bill), TiW 20% off would be $23. So if you're bill is under $115, the $23 you save from the restaurant.com cert. would be a higher percentage off.

Did I figure that correctly?:)

I think it's a good idea to read the limitations for each restaurant before you buy. It looked like someone posted House of Blues didn't have a minimum number of entrees, just a minimum spending requirement. The Swan/Dolphin restaurants might have minimum entree requirements.

Check before you buy, just in case. I think you figured the minimum dollars for TiW vs. the certificates fairly well. You can present the certificate or the TiW at the end of the meal for whatever suits you best.

On our last visit, DH and I had some Restaurant.com certificates and we also have the TIW card. When we would figure the savings for each one it was pretty much a wash. With just two of us, the savings was about the same.
