I know alcohol is 20% off as well. I don't intend on using just for drinks :cool1: but can you use it for just a drink at the bar of a particpating restaurant, if you are not dining? I'm assuming yes but just want to make sure.

This trip is just the two of us and since we are at Boardwalk may have a night or two of beverages at Epcot.

Also are there restaurants ever added to the TIW list during the year. I know in past with Dining Plan sometimes the restaurant list was not always complete early in the year. I had called one year about Dining Plan and was told some restaurants are not listed until they submit their updated contracts every year. Sure wish Top of the World Lounge was one of participating locations.

We've gone into 50's Prime Time and Rose & Crown and used it just for drinks only as a take out. Remember though that the 18% gratutity is added in on the bill.

You can use the TIW just for drinks, but the above is a good point to keep in mind, especially if you order only one drink each. Say the drinks total $20, then you'll pay nearly $4 for a tip. ;)

You *can* use your TIW at TOTWL...at least I did in October 2011:cool1:. I also used it at the lounge outside Sanaa. DSiL and I got margaritas and walked out to the savanna overlook to sip them while rocking in the chairs by the firepit:goodvibes. We also used it at the Tune-in Lounge inside 50's Prime Time Cafe. It helps knock down the cost of those specialty drinks. I don't mind the 18% gratuity being automatically added because I would tip about 20% anyways. It ends up saving me about $2/drink. Now, if we could just use it for Grey Goose slushies in France:rotfl2:...

I've also used mine at TOTWL. I believe they leave it off the list because it's not open the the general public.

I know at the suitcase @ OKW it's a hassle sometimes if a manager isn't around since they have to "sign off" on it every time.

Acceptance is now easier at the limited number of CS locations that offer the TiW discount. The CM only has to swipe the TiW card through the card reader on the POS system to process the discount.

It would be nice if they could to this at the TS locations and skip the manager approval.

I've used TIW card three times at TTOTW this January.

Thanks for the replys. We will be at Bay Lake for the start of the trip so glad to hear TOWL may accept it. We are headed down in March and probably XMAS and next March probably so depending on the whole 12 month/13 month expiration it will be well worth it.

:)

I believe they can -- at least at some locations. I was talking to a Cast Member at Mizner's Lounge during our Christmas trip and she mentioned to me how nice it is that they're now allowed to apply the discount without getting a manager's approval.

To the OP's original question, we've never had a problem using the discount for drinks in a lounge even if we don't order any food. It needs to be a participating lounge, though. Take a look at the www.tablesinwonderland.com list and you'll notice that most pool bars don't participate in TIW.

I've found drinks from the bar are cheaper with the TiW card plus tip than the drinks from places around the park.

That is no longer the case. I was down there last week and the bartenders at GS no longer needs to get a manager. Everyone is happier.

Good point about the 18 % tip.
We find that we save enough at meals to make it worthwhile as we routinely tip at least 20% for service. However, I don't make a habit of tipping 20% strictly for bar service, so we found we lose a couple of dollars using the TiW if we only order drinks.

We figure it this way, without the TiW card you'd be paying the full price for the drink plus maybe a little more for tip. With the card it's almost the same price (discount 20% add 18%) so our price is the same and the server gets a nice tip out of it. :thumbsup2

Bottled beer is around $5 (more or less depending on the brand), mixed drinks usually around the $7-10 range with the most expensive ones being the slushy or glowing ones.
