i dont think anyone should be paid for preaching or teaching people about the bible.
In my time i have had friends who have become Ministers priest or pastors or whatever you want to call them for an easylife, they didnt do it for the love of god or for their parishoners they done it for a good job with house and car provided.
How many of these people would you have if there was no car house and wage in it for them, very few indeed.
jesus wasnt paid and his disciples where not paid, they even gave up the security of their jobs i.e fishermen tentmakers tax collector, to follow and preach with jesus.so give me a reson why these people should be paid ,and paid well with all the perks that go al;ong with it.
Gee wiz-- if your friends took a ministry job for an easy life, they surely woke up to the real world after the first week!
I doubt many people are paid to preach the gospel. I think just about every preacher in the world preaches because of a calling all Christians have, not just those who work at a church! Telling people about Jesus should not come with a fee! I agree with you there. However, every minister I know works about 60 hours during the week and then comes to preach on Sundays, Wednesdays, in nursing homes and wherever there is a chance! They volunteer far above a "work week" and therefore are probably not paid to preach at all. They are probably not paid past Tuesday
Now, people who can have a pastor work elsewhere and come in on Sundays and preach must have a smaller church that does not have a demand on a pastors time during the week. Every pastor stays out all night when his flock needs him and every pastor volunteers to preach wherever they'll listen! The difference is that people who work at the church during the week can stay be the bedside of people who need it instead of having to head out for work. A small church might not need someone working during the week. On the flip side, a church with lots of members who are doing lots and lots of stuff for lots and lots of people will have to!
By the way, people did give money to Paul. He thanked people for their support.
Judas was the money keeper for the 13 who travelled. And do you suppose the 12 use it and not Jesus? How do you suppose they got that money? You said yourself, they gave up their jobs.
I hope you all had a great Sunday in church! Remember that we are on a common mission, even though we may disagree on some points. We're all trying to swim up stream and save the world-- its tough and we need to be solid when we stand together. What good is an eye without and hand? We need each other. It's good that we're different because it take all types and we are not all given the same daily tasks, though our end goal is certainly identical, I'm sure.
Have a happy day, guys!
Christy
