I just found this in my book of dreams, is this worth it? I absolutely am fascinated with Titanic, seen the movie at the theatre like 6 times, went to see the traveling collection at our local museum and pour over personal stories. Has anyone been to this attraction? Please any input would be great!!

DD and I did this a few weeks ago - they were learning about the Titanic in school, so we took the opporunity to try it out.

It is a guided tour, with the guide being "in character" as a Titanic passenger for much of the time. It was about 1 hour long - you were guided through several areas of the "dock" and the ship. It was a great way to learn a little about the history. It has fascinated me as well from the time I was young and saw "A Night to Remember" in B&W of course many many times on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon re-runs (before cable!!!)

I felt it was worth the time and money. The Orlando Entertainment book has a coupon.

DD is nine, and she enjoyed it as well. It held her attention, and she came away with some more facts and a feeling of what it was like on the ship! There were some younger children who I think would have preferred not to be there!!!

My whole family went a few years ago, and it's defiantely worth a visit. The stuff you see and learn is great, and the Memorial Wall is just so touching.
Hope I was of some help,

...and I am so glad he insisted. I am fascinated by the story of the Titanic and was ready to pay for the admission until the worker told me the exhibit didn't include any artifacts actually recovered. Suddenly, I wasn't too keen on seeing it and thought "What's the point?". He said if I was interested in the Titanic that he was sure I would enjoy it. DH insisted we do it, I didn't expect much (no genuine artifacts), but was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was very well done.

Seeing recovered artifacts probably would've been boring compaired to this tribute as this brought the ship to life in a way "stuff" in a case couldn't. It turned out to be a great memory of that trip and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested. :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed this exhibit as well :thumbsup2 It has been awhile since we went. At the time we were there it did have artifacts from the Titanic, but not sure if that was just a touring exhibit or something permenant.

I think the most touching thing, if they are still doing it, was that when we got our tickets, they gave us a name. That was the person that "we were" onboard the ship. At the end there is a memorial wall and you can find the name on the wall and see who you where and whether or not you survived. It was very moving.

It is located at "The Mercado" which is an outdoor shopping area on International Drive kinda between Sea World and Universal. Definetly go if you get a chance and it is something you are interested in.

Dh and I took the tour a few months ago, and we both enjoyed it. The plaza where its located is empty. Almost all of the businesses have closed down. We went on a very hot day, and there was nowhere to wait in a/c. That said, the actors in the tour are knowledgable, and the tour is interesting. Also, ds loved the Titanic souvineers we brought home for him.

Where is this exhibit?

It's at the Mercado....which is close to the convention center.

My sister and I went back in April 2005 and loved it. It was really cool. We ditched our tour though. There were some very annoying little children that wouldn't allow the tourguide to do his presentation. So at the point when they say not to go past the grand staircase, we did and it worked out really well since we were then able to get pictures without anyone else interfering. I liked the Promenade Deck. That was really neat how they did that. The "iceberg" was neat too. We have pictures of both of us leaning against it. It surprisingly is cold and wet!

Its worth the money and time. We will defintily be going again in January and may or may not stay with the tour! ;)

Word is that Mercado is to be torn down at the end of the year, so they can build a luxury hotel. There are signs at the Festival Bay mall up the road indicating that two of Mercado's restaurants (Cricketer's Arms and Bergamo's)are "coming soon," so I do not think it is long for this world.

Whether or not Titanic is to be torn down too is as yet unclear. My advice would be to see it soon, tho.

Sounds like we'll have to make the time to do this. We talk about it all the time, but have yet to be able to fit it in. I saw the movie 13 times in the theatre and once on IMAX. I've been fascinated with the whole story since I was little. We did do an exhibit in Gatlinburg once. It was so interesting. They had a hole you could put your hand in that contained water the exact temperature of the water the night of the sinking. Unless you feel it, you can't fathom it. I was only able to keep my fingers in for a couple seconds before huge pain set in! I can't imagine what they went thru. ANYWAY...this really does sound like a worthwhile stop... :thumbsup2

We did it in Cleveland. I found it very interesting. Like someone else posted, they gave us tickets with a real name of a person that was on the ship. At the end we checked to see if we made it or not. Its kinda sad.

I have always enjoyed museums and attraction like this.

We went with my parents when they came down to visit and we all enjoyed it, even my kids(6 & 10).
