tired of it!!

I think the overall negative feedback on DCA is due to the fact that the vast majority of people who visit the Disney theme parks here are locals- day visitors. If you're paying, what is it, $45.00, for one day; Disneyland is a better "buy" because of the number of rides and the longer hours. That was my feeling when it first opened. My reaction was "What nerve they have charging the same price as Disneyland for a smaller park with far fewer attractions." Especially in light of the fact that I, as many do, have very young children. We all know that there are not a lot of things a 3 year old can ride on at DCA. I did not try the park out until they had a promotion of one child free with each paying adult.

That said, I do like the park. This past year we got annual passes that were park hoppers. We love dropping by there for a few hours or just to see the Electrical parade. My kids love the storytelling at the camp. I will say that after this year we won't be renewing our passes (the So. Calif. passes no longer practicle for us & can't afford anything more). Without the annual pass, we won't be visiting DCA unless there is another promotion. I know Flik's fair will be opening but there will still be too few things for my young ones to do to pay full price. I honestly think that is the mind set of many of the locals and that's why attendence is down. It's either 1) not enough things for the very young to do and/or 2) resent paying the same price as Disneyland for a smaller park. Not everyone is as in love with the Disney magic as we are on this board and they would rather spend half the price and go to the bigger Knotts Berry Farm (locally, there are always promotions going on) than pay full price for DCA. Or, pay the full price and go to the chock-full-of-rides Disneyland.

Okay, you can start throwing flaming arrows at me now.

I'm one of those complainers. Yes, it is a new park and we should give it time to get up to speed. At the same time, the park only has two e-ticket rides: Soarin' and Screamin'. I paid full price and was sadly disappointed.

If you want to see what Disney is capable of doing when they put their best effort forward, take a look at Disney Sea -- mouseplanet has been doing a pictorial and you won't believe your eyes. Having been to DS, I don't understand why I'm being asked to settle for less than Disney's best efforts.

I mentioned e-ticket rides, but it's more than that. Every other Disney park including Animal Kingdom transports you to another place far from everyday life. DCA doesn't do that. To me, DCA is no different from any other theme park (Six Flags, etc.). I can get the same experience without taking vacation time, staying at a hotel, and paying way more money.
