DH and I are AP holders, and have been for the past year or so. We live about 70 miles from DL, and are the people referred to on these boards as the locals that hop in for a few hours at a time. That is true, to an extent, although we do plan multi-day trips sometimes, as well.

I have been a fan of DL since I was a kid, and went often when I was younger, having been born and raised in CA. I was worried when I got the APs that DL would lose some of it's magic for me, being able to go so often. I was scared I would actually get sick of DL! :scared:

However; I've found that it's even better now. I have WAY more patience for the crowds. I understand that the family in front of me that appears to be rude and pushy, is there for what might be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, whereas I can come back the following week and ride something I might miss. I now take the parks at a slower pace, am not in a rush to get everything done and enjoy the little things more.

In September, we have a multi-day trip with the whole family, many coming from out-of-town and don't go to the parks more than once every couple of years. My BIL saw my FB post on Friday about waiting to get on SM and noted that I was going to be "tired of Disneyland" before the trip in September comes along.

:lmao:"Tired of Disneyland" :lmao: That's a good one! BA HA HA HA HA HA
Are there other AP holders who eventually got sick of Disneyland? Is that even possible? :confused3

Getting sick of Disneyland?

Never!

Although I do like to occasionally get out of DL and head to a different park for a change of scenery, nothing beats the quality of everything that DL has to offer. Being an AP holder living 4 hours away, I don't think I'll ever get tired of DL.

I was worried that I'd get tired of it, too, but still haven't. Like you, I find that going regularly increases my enjoyment. I don't agonize over seeing every show or riding every ride. Being able to relax and enjoy the little stuff makes it all the more magical.

(Though I do still get annoyed by the rude and pushy people. There's just no need for that.)

Never. But my threshold for what it takes to feel satiated is different than yours. We go about once per year and take the parks the same way you do. No rushing. No worries. We'll always be back. We enjoy the small things.

However, there was one year when I was able to go 3 times and by the end of that third trip I was satiated and a little weary. For me 2x per year is probably my max - but then I'm travelling on a plane, with 3 young kids an so there is a lot more hassle involved. Also, the year we went 3 times was before the DCA refurb.

By the way, bless you for your graciousness toward the stressed out people who are there for their "once in a lifetime." :goodvibes

If anything, I am more addicted to it. If I dont go for a day trip every few weeks I am fiending. I do however find that if I am there for multi day trips, by day 3 or certainly day 4 I am pretty much ready to take a break.

We'll be doing the AP thing starting this fall. My only fear is that after a year, I'll really want to spend more time at WDW. That DL will become a massive appetizer for big sister over in FL. Then I'll be out even more cash!!!

Tired of Disneyland?! Not me! DH did mention that he was 'Disney-ed out' but I think he's tired of spending money, not riding rides.

Hasn't happened yet...

We try to go about once a month. If we get there and it's really crowded we just hang out, do some shopping, have lunch and soak in the atmosphere. We'll always be back. It really has made it so much more relaxing. I still love to stay until closing, but it isn't a must-do every time.

We actually did get "Disney'd" out a couple of years ago. We were going once or twicer per year when we didn't have AP's and the year we did get AP's we went 4 times with the plans of going 5 times but canceled one of our trips. It did kind of lose that magic. I love the feeling of anticipation, of planning out our trips and when we get there the feeling of "I can't believe we are here!!!" I didn't have that during our AP trips and it was kind of sad. We had fun but it wasn't giddy with excitement fun. We were over the lines, having to save spots for Fantasmic and fireworks etc.

So we canceled our 4th trip of that year and kept our fifth one which was a Halloween trip and it was the first time we were to see Cars Land. It was an exciting trip!

Dh still wasn't feelin' it though so the next year we planned an Orlando trip specifically to go to Discovery Cove and Aquatica. We added on 2 days at WDW and picked 2 parks. Those were kind of ok days. Fun but not like the amazingness of new experiences (swimming with dolphins and our first waterpark ever- Aquatica. Those were awesome days. So we discovered that our best days when we vacation are those where we do something new. It's all so new and exciting exploring a new park or city or whatever.

We skipped DL completely last year and saved up for our Hawaii trip and Aulani which we did over Spring Break this year. That was AMAZING! And we got our Disney fix.

So we are now happily planning a quick 2 night Halloween DL trip to take place right before our annual beach trip in San Diego this fall. I am so excited I can hardly wait! I have been planning away which restaurants we want to be sure to hit, what snacks I wanna try, plan of attack on rides and shows. :cool1:

We just needed a DL break and now my pixiedust: is back! I'm totally feeling it and I know I'll have that "I can't believe we are here!" feeling when we walk through the turnstiles.

I don't think we'll do AP's again (especially at the prices they have risen to) but mostly because once a year or every other year is good for us. I know its different for everyone but we are those people that could have too much Disney.... even though I NEVER thought it was possible.

No! Not yet! We go 3-4 times a year and live in NorCal. I've noticed I'm not so high strong to get everything done now and I love that. Favorite memories are relaxing with my kids while we have special treat and people watching. :goodvibes

That's good to hear! I'm moving to Cali and getting an AP. We're going from once every three years trips, to hopefully at least twice a year. Good to know that it only gets better the more you go! :cool1:

I admit I'm Disneylanded out. After 5 trips in 5 years, I'm done with Disneyland, at least for awhile. However, that doesn't mean I'm Disney'd out, it means I'm ready for a change of pace. I'm planning a trip to WDW in 2017 for a change, then will plan another trip to DL afterwards. Our family has never been to WDW, as it's cheaper for us to go to DL, so we are excited for the trip, even though it's a while away. I'll never be completed Disney'd out, simply for the reason I love the fine details, and the artistry that makes the parks special.

It's funny that someone would bring this up because this actually happened to me, lol. It was right after we got back home to California after our 1.5 week WDW/Universal trip. Disneyland just seemed so small compared to WDW and you could really do everything in 2 days (if it's not crowded)... maybe even 1 day depending on what you want to do. Also, Wizarding World of Harry Potter blew my mind and I couldn't get over it. But I haven't been in about 2 years now and just dyyying to go back! "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" as they say

Hasn't happened yet!
I have had an AP for years now, worked at the parks, and live and work close by.:goodvibes
I still go to the park just like we did friday night for a quick date night. Some food, some drinks, a ride or two, or sometimes no rides at all...GASP! :rotfl2:
We even just go sometimes to walk around, see the park lit up at night or decorated for different holidays. Check out the new interactive games in Frontierland and Adventure land. Or just because we are craving a Dole Whip :p

We don't foresee getting sick of it any time soon. But, if you do not truely love the place even with all it's flaws, I can see getting burnt out on the crowds, prices, closures, block out dates etc QUICK :crazy2:

DH and I were there on Friday for a date night as well. :)
Dinner in DTD, then hopped a few rides and strolled around...good times! :goodvibes

When we lived in Northern CA and would come down 3-4 x's year for around 3-4 days each trip. We loved Disney but I would get kind of burnt out. We'd be up early each day and the kids wanted to ride the same rides every single time (sometimes every day) and I felt like we were running around like crazy.

Now we live 30 minutes away and at first we'd go and do a marathon 16 hour day but now we have started going for an evening or half a day on a Sunday morning and the kids know we aren't going to ride every ride each time so we take the time to stop and watch a show or play in innoventions and I've been really enjoying it again.

I do miss being on vacation when we're there but now we can save our vacations for bigger trips like Aulani :-)

Nope, love it just as much as my first trip.

I went last week and spent a good part of one day in the Rivers of America / Critter Country area simply because the setting is so amazing and I was just enjoying soaking it in. I think I rode BTMRR twice, the canoes twice, Splash once, Mark Twain once, Columbia once, explored the island, watched the Splash drop for a while and then ate at Hungry bear. That was my whole afternoon and it was amazing.
