Hello all, I figured I come where I knew people would understand. Just a little vent here.

My DH and I will be spending a long weekend at WDW for our 10 yr annviersary  in just 13 days :goodvibes . Any time someone asks us what we are doing for our anniversary or where we are going and we tell them WDW they laugh at us. We get a lot of "you are going without the kids?", "you're going again", etc. If they don't laugh the certainly roll their eyes. . This makes me mad  . My DH and I are counting the days and are very excited, looking forward to doing 'adult' things without the kids. We have a KTTK tour booked, we are staying at AKL savanah view with dinner on the balcony, etc.

Trying not to let them get me down but I've resorted to telling people we are going to Florida and don't mention WDW. Maybe I should make up something really exotic. We're staying at AKL, maybe I'll start telling them we are going on a safari ;)

Thanks for listening, I feel better already :flower: . Have a great day! :sunny:

I think your trip sounds absolutely wonderful! Have a fabulous time - you will forget all those people the minute you step foot at WDW! Enjoy it all - and let people know it's your anniversary - we were there for our 15th, and got so many wonderful good wishes. It was fun!

don't pay any attention to them. They just don't get it. As long as you have a wonderful time and enjoy going don't be concerned with what anyone else thinks.

HAVE A FABULOUS TIME!!!!!!

Believe me.. I understand what you're saying. I can't get my DD to even entertain the idea of a visit to Disney because she feels as if she grew up there :goodvibes So, we go without her (she's married.. she can make her own choices)

Don't let it bother you ~ there are always going to be people who *just don't get it* :wizard:

I can imagine your excitement. I am going to WDW in less than 2 weeks for my 1st time!!!!!

After reading your post I could hear my own mother's words in my head "don't worry about what other people think". Words to live by.

I hope you have a wonderful time, Happy Anniversary.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. DISNEY is a magical place for all ages. No matter how old you are you can enjoy yourself and have a great time. Ignore all the comments and have wonderful time!!!

Happy Anniversary!!

We're going down in two weeks too ... for our 25th!

We're taking our "boys" tho - they're 21 and 16 - so we'll be able to have plenty of "just us" time. We talked about just the two of us going - but I really wanted to have them with us.. (I think I'd feel differently if they were younger.. :rotfl: )

Have a WONDERFUL time!! Enjoy it - in today's times - 10 years is a very worthy milestone - and it's making time for each other - and having fun together that keeps the marriage alive!! :flower:

People just don't understand how much "grownup" things there is to do at Disney World. Have a great time.
:wizard:

Hold your head high and shout "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!" :rotfl:

We too are often on the receiving end of the "going back to Disney?!" comments. My family loves WDW and even when our daughter is too old to vacation with the parents, we will still go by ourselves! I told my husband that next year when I turn 40 the two of us are going and I'm wearing a birthday button all day long! You only live once and I intend to spend mine at Disney! :rotfl2:

Your trip sounds wonderful! Enjoy every minute!
Happy Anniversary! :wave2:

Disney World WITH kids is wonderful, fun, full of awesome memories and priceless. DisneyWorld WITHOUT kids is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To me, both vacations are equally enjoyable but there's just something relaxing and romantic when it's just DH and myself.

when people act like that, it is usually jealousy or envy. :)

Very true! Instead of getting annoyed with people like that, I feel sorry for them. They obviously don't realized what kind of magic they are missing!

I am married to a non-Disney freak....see opposites DO attract! The last time I met at my folks house for a "planning meeting" he called to ask if the cult meeting was over. I just told him to be quiet, and offered him a glass of kool-aid. :rotfl:

Happy Anniversary....enjoy your trip!! :cheer2:

Pooh on them!!!! I had the same thing happen to me with my sister's BIL. He just couldn't fathom why we would want to go to WDW and as he was saying this, I just sat and smiled. Inside I was thinking how he just finished telling us how he drove 500 miles to attend an antique fan convention and just how boring I thought that was but I was raised better than that and didn't say anything! To each their own!

You are going to have an amazing time and bottomline - it is your money and time to do with what you wish. We love Disney and go back at least every other year if not every year and to us it is always magical and amazing! I agree - hold your head high!! We've got 6 more years until our 10 year anniversary and I sure as heck want to have it at Disney!

Have an amazing trip!

The first trip my DH and I ever took together was when we were dating. We went to WDW with NO KIDS!!! Don't let them get you down! Have a wonderful time!!!

Sounds very familiar. We get that all the time. We just did our 10th as a Intimate Vow Renewal on Poly's Beach. And still everyone said, you can't find anywhere else to go? They'll never get it. :confused3
Happy Anniversary!

I don't know of any other vacation spot that has so many dedicated websites (like this one) and a huge group of individuals worldwide who constantly and consistently help each other out with planning, new ideas and so many other topics we see on these wonderful threads. To me, that says it all! :flower:

My sister just called to say her and her hubby want to go with us next year and we all leave our kids at home. Last April we went- 14 of us- 9 were kids.
I told DH about an "adults only" trip and he loves the idea.

I also get the snickers and laughs to which I respond "you people just don't have a clue"

I go through this all the time too. I recently decided that I'm not going to try to defend it anymore. Just say "yes we are going again" period.

Its what we did for our 10th last year (and yes we had our kids with us) and had a blast. We made reservations at the California Grill about an hour before the MK closed and watched wishes from our window side seat(I metioned it was our 10yr when making the PS).

P.S. I stopped trying to explain "The Magic" to people long ago either you get or you dont.

My DFi is going to WDW for the first time this December and when I told him (very excitedly) that we were going he looked at me like "Ok, whatever you want to do" and he didn't understand. Over the past couple of months I record every show about WDW that comes on the Travel channel for us to watch and requested the free video fro WDW for him to watch as well. Now I think he's more excited than I am to go! I think people react the way that they do because they don't truly understand what Disney World is all about and I have friends and family members that have been to WDW and the ones that STILL don't like it went in the middle of July, stayed off site, and ate pretty much in the room (not that there's anything wrong going like that just all of their complaints was about the crowds, trying to park and drive around, and how expensive things are. Oh well, if they don't want to go then that's one less person there when I'm there! ;)
