Tired of being laughed at

we live over 1000 miles from WDW and are getting ready to take out 6th trip in less than 2 years(with the kids). We get some good natured ribbing all the time but there is nowhere on this earth we would rather be. To each his own. I would rather stay at the pop century than the most lavish hotel out there as long as I am at WDW.

Don't let it get you down. You're better off just telling them you're going to FLA to relax. At least you and your DH know where you love to go. Some people are never satisfied with their vacations. If they put a damper on your spirits you're better off not telling them. :earsboy:

Go and have FUN :wizard:

I was just talking to my docter today about our upcoming family Disney trip (we were comparing notes) he said the best time's he has is "Going Kid-less" :thewave:

Enjoy It!!!! :jumping1:

94 days and counting!

My husband and I can't wait to take a Disney trip together when the kids are older and it can be just the two of us! We already plan to stay in the Poly! Don't worry about what other people think...they just aren't informed as to how much there is to do for adults.
Have an awesome time!!
Sharon

I have to wonder whether the people making those remarks to you have never been to WDW. Anybody who would make those kinds of comments or roll their eyes either has never been to WDW or visited there but never really felt the magic, in which case, I feel sorry for them because they have really missed out!

My DH and I don't have kids so every trip to WDW is an adults only trip, just the two of us. For us a trip to WDW means spending a week in a beautiful themed hotel inside the Disney "cocoon" (as someone else on these boards once described it -- I love that description!) with good weather, good food, good service, lots to do and plenty of opportunities to kick back and relax. What's not to like?

Happy anniversary! I hope you have a wonderful time at AKL! Your plans for dinner on the balcony sound wonderful! (Have any of those people who were rolling their eyes at you ever had dinner with a giraffe? I'll bet not!)

Hey I get that treatment all the time. I work along side one kid (and I mean kid he may be about 30) Remarks all the time, how much Disney stuff do you own? I cannot believe you are going there for your 25th wedding anniversary. Betcha he has never been.

But, on the other hand, I'm not gonna let him get me down. I can't even remember him being excited about anything. Me I am just so excited just 5 more weeks to go

To each their own. ;) One person that asks me why WDW *again* with disgust hasn't left the state in like 10 years! :teeth:

My loved ones whether friends or family know I enjoy it so much and joke with me but it's all in good fun! I remember one year when we went to the "other side" i.e. Universal and I thought they were going to pass out from shock! :rotfl2:

I use the analogy of going to the beach(shore for Jersey) or Lake every year. Doesn't THAT get old??? Not for them and I would never think of rudely asking why do you keep going back, can't you find somewhere else to go? ;)

My Dr.'s know we go a lot! Guess who they ask for advice. ;)

I also tell people it's cheaper than "therapy!" :teeth:

A certain select few have the nerve to ask how do we afford it! I just smile and say we are lucky, huh? :rolleyes1

Happy Anniversary!!

But be careful!! We did that back in December. We now have a Little Souvenir on the way. Wife is due August 28. I guess thats a little payback for not taking our 6 yr old with us.

I just got that "You're going again?" question from my mother when I told her about our December trip. I just told her that it's because they wouldn't take me when I was a kid, so I'm making up for lost time!

I hope you have a great time - WDW without kids is such fun. I think it's a wonderful idea. My 10 yr anniversary is this summer, DH and I want to go on vacation without the kids for a few days... I immediately thought of going to WDW just the two of us, but that got nixed because we're going in 10 days with the kids DD 6, DS 5 :) . Two vacations to WDW in a 2 month period was too much for DH. Maybe for our 15th.....

We last went kidless a year before DD was born and had a FANTASTIC dinner at the California Grill. I asked for a window seat and we watched the MK fireworks from our table, magical!

Anyone who laughs at someone celebrating a special occasion at WDW just doesn't get it. They call it a "resort" for a reason. :earsboy:

My DH and I have been going to Disney/Orlando area for the past 5 years. Every time I tell my co-workers where we are going they say the same thing. Why don't you go somewhere else?" I tell them that there is no place else i would rather go. Some people like going to the beach, some people like going to the mountains, I love going to Disney World. Sometimes I dread telling them where I am going.

We have a DS 8 that we take with us. We will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in January of '06. That is where I plan on going. I know there will be comments but I will just ignore them and take the comments that come along with it. Yes DS will be going with us. We will take him with us when we celebrate. It is much more fun having him with us. I know there will come a time when he won't want to hang around with mom and dad, so I want to spend as much time with him as possible. :flower: :flower:

Don't let them get you down!!! You can only feel sorry for them. We started our married life together in WDW 19 years ago. In a few days we'll celebrate our 19 th anniversary there. I can't think of a better place to celebrate love and happiness  You'll have a wonderful time. Best wishes for many more years of happiness and many more visits to the happiest place on Earth

DH and I are going this Oct for my 40th birthday, without DS6 and DD2. It's probably going to be the best trip we've taken by ourselves. We both got hooked last year when we took the kids. Even though we'd been there before, there was something magical about that trip. Now, we can't wait to make some more magic just the two of us  . We too are planning on doing KTTK, the Food and Wine Festival (maybe even Party for the Senses), mini golf, PI, anything we couldn't do with the kids. We are planning another trip next year, late spring or early summer, with the whole family, so no guilt here! Also, DH doesn't know it yet, but I'm thinking about a 10th anniversary trip in Oct '07! People mock what they don't understand. If they just don't "get it", all the explaining in the world won't help and it will just make you seem defensive. Just go and enjoy!

Kathy

I'm 52 and I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!! The younger folks (my kids) can come along if they want to.

ya it really gets to you sometimes i know a lot of people who just dont get it but i just laugh at them for their ignorance just have a good time and forget that many people do understand how you feel :cheer2:
