Two teens and Mom will be joining Dad at a convention April 13 - 17, staying at the Grand Californian. I see lots of wonderful food pictures but am interested in tips and tricks to stretch our budget for food and snacks during our stay. We are WDW veterans but DL is a whole different story. Are there menus and prices posted online somethere?

I hope others can share their ideas here.

a couple of things my sister and I (and our 6 children) LOVED...

at the mexican place in Downtown Disney (cant remember the name) go to the walk up window and order their nachos! YUMMY!!! and big enough to share! I think we got 3 between the 8 of us and it was more than enough.

also, the turkey legs! YUM!!! and they are giant! we each got one and what we didnt eat we put in the little fridge in our room and ate on it for a couple of days with cup of noodles we brought with us. kids loved it too! we just ran water through the coffee maker to heat it up.

although, not sure if the Grand has little fridges?

Check out the Disneyland Dining reviews sticky at the top of the page. There are a lot of yummy pictures, but often people will tell you if the portions are large or if the prices are reasonable as well. My best piece of advice: Check out the portion size, then share, share, share! Often a pretzel or a Dole Whip is all you'll need for lunch anyway. My 5 yo DD told Grandma that "We were so busy at Disneyland that most of the time we didn't even stop for lunch!". Out of the mouths of babes!

The Chimichangas are huge as well- I don't believe they're too expensive either. Maybe $4-$5?

We ordered a whole pizza from Pizza Port (I think that's what it's called). It fed Me, DH, and 3 DS ( 12, 11 and 3). Plus there were left overs for later - which the boys loved. It was cheaper to buy a whole pizza rather than buying it by the slice at 5.99. Since we had a stroller we brought a little cooler with bottled soda and for some reason... not sure why I had them, zip lock bags, we placed the left over pizza in the bags then in the cooler.

yes were taking a coller this time, and yes I always have ziplock bags..wow i never knew where white water snakes was and wow i think im going to go there for lunch a few days thanks all that will save on food

Whitewater Snacks is the cafe at GC hotel. There's an entrance to GC just across the path (and maybe down a tiny bit) from Grizzly River Run (in CA). Take that entrance and ask the CMs at the gate where to find it. It's not far. If you hit the pool you've gone too far.

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong. I was there only once.

Tell me I'm an idiot but I've been looking all over. What is Whitewater Snacks?

Thanks! I was wondering about that info myself....

Now, please tell me that wasn't all from memory, :worship: :worship: , or I will have to be incredibly impressed (and perhaps a little bit :scared: )

lol! :rotfl2: No, I copied it from another site. I would have just linked it, but they won't let us link to dlresortinfo dot com.

They have all the menus for the DLR restaurants. It's a very useful site. :thumbsup2

LOL. They are $1 at Wal-Mart.

Yeah but somehow having one of those and sitting on their .25 elephant ride at the front door is just not the same as having a $5 one and riding dumbo :rotfl: Sorry, couldn't resist:rotfl2:

hahahah Jeannie that is too funny. I would almost bet that dollar that Kelly has never been able to ride any other elephant besides Dumbo? :lmao:

It's be awhile since we've been lucky enought to stay at GC but we were able to purchase a refillable cup at WW snacks and come back anytime during our stay for free refills on soda, coffee etc with that cup. It was nice to have when we were at the pool or relaxing in the room...saved us a some $ since my kids seem to instantly become dehydrated when we leave the room and must have a soda. Pizza port is also a regular stop for us in DL. The portions are huge so we either split one or get a kids portion. If you have a Disney Visa some of the outlets in DL, CA and DD give a discount (usually 10%) when you use it. It's not much, but everything helps. Have great time! :flower3:
