Tips please for San Antonio attractions

I remember where the Hard rock is.....but where is the Rainforst Cafe ? It would be fun to go for a meal!
One of the reasons I thought Sw would be a two day park is that the web site bragged that they are bigger than Orlando's.
The Marriott web site seemed to indicate that the zoo was within walking distance of the hotel, would you agree?

There's a Rainforest Cafe in San Antonio??? I know there's a Hard Rock and a Planet Hollywood on the Riverwalk, but I don't know of a Rainforest Cafe.

It's brand new, just opened. I don't know where it is, either

ideas here. :) Have a good time

Cool! I don't care what they all say - I love the Rainforest Cafe!

I'll chime in -

Zoo - I think it's great. If you're a zoo connosieur (sp?), perhaps it's not the best, but's it's a great way to spend the day. It gets pretty humid and hot, so I suggest doing the zoo in the am.

Went to La Cantera shops this past Christmas. They are nice - Foley's, Dillards, Neimans, Nordstroms and everything in between.

If you're up for a day trip, try Fredericksburg. The drive there itself is beautiful and the small town is full of interesting, eclectic shops.

My favorite place to go downtown is the Institute of Texan Cultures:

The Institute holds it's annual Folklife Festival at the beginning of June. It's AWESOME!

And of course, there's the SPURS!!!! We'll probably be in playoffs then and if you have an opportunity to see a live game, you won't be disappointed!!!

Be sure to do the boat ride that runs along the riverwalk. It's only about 45 min. long, but the tour operator will give you a lot of interesting historical tidbits about the downtown area.

PM me if you have specific questions.

I wouldn't rule out the cities surrounding San Antonio, namely New Braunfels. There is an area named Gruene, which is in the city limits, that is particularly charming. There is a restaurant called The Grist Mill that I love! It sits on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River.

Then, of course there's tubing on the river!

I'd echo the above...if you make it to New Braunfels, as others have said,
go to the Schlitterbahn.

Rainforest is on the Riverwalk across from the Hyatt at Crockett

It just opened this week. I was able to go and eat there this past Monday. The place is beautiful!

They have a tiger, panda, a monkey that climbs a tree...it was great fun.

As for the zoo...too far to walk from downtown but I believe you can take the trolley. The zoo is nice but was not what I expected for the size of SA. I grew up spoiled with the Philly zoo! It is a very typical city zoo with many older style enclosures. Seems that they have been doing work to update? We have a great time when we go...we are members...but it is not in my top 10!

The botanical gardens are also a nice stop here in SA

Don't see that anyone has mentioned Ripleys. Teenager might really like it. It is across the street from The Alamo....don't get me started..yes it is tacky!
