We were at SSR 2 weeks ago and let me just say if you're planning on using the Disney transportation to get to the park, add 30~45 minutes to your plan. During our stay, buses were often full to capacity after 3 stops and people were waiting 15~20 minutes to catch a bus in the morning. It's a huge resort and depending on which section you're staying, it can easily take 15 minutes just to make all the stop within SSR. Going to DTD is convenient either via bus, boat or walking.
Ask to stay in the Springs or Grandstand section if you want to stay close to the Carriage House, restaurants and the main pool. This resort is beautiful and well maintained but HUGE! Have fun.

I agree. The busses are convenient, but I would allow for 45 minutes to 1 hour for transport. We were there 2 weeks ago, and it was very, very busy! We were in the Springs, and even though it's the last stop, we got on everytime.

Have used the bus service at SSR for our last 5 trips, staying at Carousel, and Congress Park.

45 mins is a good benchmark if you plan around park openings. During the day 30 mins. should be OK. After 4 trips (over 14 days for all) only had standing room once on a bus. We started each day for park openings.

Only if you are at the first stop (Grandstand). The Springs (last stop) is only a 5 min walk from Grandstand. You can very easily walk and meet the same bus. During our stay, from Carousel (2nd stop) we were normally out of the resort in 5-7 mins. Of course, this always depends on the number of people loading.

Our reason for staying at Congress Park was the 5 min walk to DTD.

Good point.
