We've taken DS dozens of times since he was about nine months old (he's now 2 yrs old). DW and I have been long-time passholders even before we started a family, so we don't mind the slower pace now, because we've already seen it all. Until our most recent trip, we never returend to the hotel for a rest. DS would usually just fall asleep in the stroller or in our arms while on a ride. While he slept, we'd grab a bite to eat, browse shops, relax etc.. On our last trip we tried stopping by the hotel mid-day, and that didn't work well for DS at all. Because of all the movement in and out of the stroller, monorail, tram, and car seat, he only got a few minutes rest in the car while we drove back to the hotel. He woke up as soon as we tried getting him out of the car, and he wouldn't go back to sleep at the hotel. As others said, take it easy. Take advantage of the baby centers. DS has been on every ride that doesn't have a height restriction and has had two hair cuts at WDW, and he's never been afraid or fussed. In fact, the only thing that ever seemed to bother DS was an animatronic gorilla that stood, literally, at the edge of our table at the Rainforest Cafe in DTD. As soon as the hostess led us to that table, our little guy quietly stared at that gorilla, and I could just tell that he wasn't comfortable being that close. We switched to the next table over, and he was fine. Actually, he was great, pointing and laughing at the animatronic animals.
