I am attempting to take pics of the band in the stadium. Most of the pics have a haze/almost blurry looking. I know it is because of the stadium lights directly behind them. What can I do to prevent this?

I pretty much have 3 strikes against me: they are a moving target, bright light & darkness.

Change your location so you are at ground level.

Use a lens hood.

Set your metering to spot.

When you say haze or blur, what I think of is stray light hitting the glass right off those big flood lights. This can be minimized by going to ground level and using a lens hood.

I did the pics on ground level looking up into the stands...trying to get as many kids in a shot as possible

Stop down the aperture. (I know it seems counterintuitive) Also make sure you've removed any kind of filter you might have on the lens.
