My daughter is 2 y, 3 months old and has been potty trained for about a month, a few pee accidents here and there but are getting less and less.

Leaving for WDW August 17, and flying, what are your best tips?

Ask her if she has to go every single time you see a rest room, and bring a change of clothing for her. Theres no magical answer to this, even in Disney World (LOL) - Just common sense :)

I'll be there the same time as you with a recently trained May 2012 baby. I'm nervous too. She HATES to try when she doesn't have to go-screams at the top of her lungs in protest. People in the other stalls will wonder... I know it's not the best practice, but I'll probably bring jelly beans or something to bribe her with while we're there to get her to try.

I'll be following for other tips!

We didn't use jelly beans but M & M's. Worked like a charm for both of our boys. They couldn't wait to go to get those M & M's. :thumbsup2

We used m&ms at home when we started. I'm just worried about them melting in August ;) ;)

Or if she is anything like my youngest was, you TELL her we are all going to try now....add the candy bribe if necessary. Be careful not to limit drinks to cut down on accidents...it will be hot and she will need those liquids. I might would consider taking a pack of pull ups along and if you see she has any black-slldding.....put one on OVER her underwear so if she would have an accident....she would know it, yet it would save a car seat or ride seat or your lap from a mess....take lots of extra underwear too.

Well while at the parks each time I had each of my kids after they were potty trained I kept them in pull ups. We had a little talk that they still needed to use the bathroom. But just in case their outfit etc would be ok. Sometimes you just never know how far the bathroom was. How long the line was or if you were next in line to get on a ride then have to backtrack out of line. All of that takes time and they might not be able to hold it. I think my daughter only had one accident in our week trip but the bathroom was far away for a toddler having to go. The pull ups kept the stress away of ruining an outfit or the immediate stress of trying to run to a bathroom.

They shouldn't they were created for the army as a dessert in hot war zones during WWII ;-)

Tell that to the ones that were in my purse a few weeks ago, hahaha! The candy coating only does so much :)

We took our 2 1/2 year old twin (newly potty trained) grandsons and things really went well. We would take potty breaks, and yes they would say "I don't have to go". We would say "before we do anything else you need to try". Most times they tried ...and went. Made for a lot of breaks but it was worth it, they felt pretty proud about themselves.

Mainly just do what you're comfortable with.

DS is just about done, but a big trip where there are so many distractions is another story. I'm planning on bringing the mini marshmallows (Lorax food) to keep him on the right track. For the plane ride I plan on underwear with a pull-up over it. That way it still reinforces peeing on the potty, but is also don't want a wet seat when we are in the air. Good luck!!

I'm subbing in. My nearly three year old strong willed child refuses all diapers and pull ups. I have to sneak them on after she falls asleep otherwise it's a very huge ordeal. I'm worried about the whole flight, then magical express ride etc.

*I* take lots of breaks so I would make my son try every time I went. I found if I put the stopping on ME, he was more likely to go while we were there, but if I asked him if he needed to stop, he'd always say no.

From the time the kids were teen tiny we had a rule that if one person had to go, everyone had to try. I like the idea of making it more that the adult needs to stop, so everyone has to try.

To the poster worried about the flight and Magical Express, you can always do the same thing. Say you have to go sometime during the flight, and take your little one with you. If you are worried about having to go on the bus, there are bathrooms on them. Or you can just say you have to go right before you get in the ME line, and have everyone go.

I'm the original poster and we have been home from our trip for a week.

On the plane, ME, and to the parks, I had her wear underwear with a pull up over her underwear. For sleeping and around the resort, she just wore underwear, like she does all day and night at home.

Pretty much every time we saw a bathroom, I asked DD if she had to go. I made her go in with me and try to go once an hour. Always had a proud, happy comment when she tried to go and actually went.

She did great the first 3 days, no accidents. 4th night, she had an accident while half asleep on the bus ride home back to the resort. Same thing the 5th night. I think she was just overtired, plus she had fallen asleep in the stroller and I didn't wake her for a potty break before getting in the bus, so my fault. Thank goodness she had a pull-up on over her panties or I would feel bad for the next bus rider! The 6th and last day was a mess, she had about 5 pee accidents, this was our last day and had already checked our luggage and we almost ran out of clothes bc it leaked out of the pull up!

Again, I think she was just over tired and over stimulated and overall did a great job.

The first couple days home, she had 1 accident a day, the last 2 days, no accidents, so we are back on track!

Side note: not to be gross, but we are talking potty training. She drank fluids all day long but somehow became constipated, maybe from the food or she needed more water (I don't know how, she seriously drank a ton of water and juice), or maybe was too excited at WDW to take the time for a "long" break. I had to call the ped and give her miralax, which thankfully I had brought. So just be aware that all systems can get out of whack when they are out of their routine.

I have nothing useful to add.

This just reminds me of how excited I was once my son was toilet trained until one day he and I were in the car for about an hour. I wasn't smart enough to have had him go before we left. I pulled over the to the side of the road and let him go. That didn't go well either. All over his sneakers. I was so sad that the great accomplishment of toilet training had such a downside. I did better with the second.

Anyway, I guess my advice would be plan ahead and good luck!

Our 3 yo just finished potty training this summer, but we're heading onto Disney Cruise Line for a 7-day cruise on 10/4. Any tips for whether Oceaneer Club/Lab staff will keep an eye on things?

My son is 2 1/2, and he has been very resistant to potty training. He's just starting to do better. We head to WDW in a month. I am very worried. And I am thinking I will try the pull-up over underwear trick, but I am already feeling like we are going to end us just using the pull-ups. :( I'm happy to hear any recommendations.

Bellatsava, you might be surprised how much can change in a month. Hopefully he does well. Two of my kids potty trained and never looked back, one was having accidents for quite some time and my last one is almost 3.5 and JUST finally potty trained (all of my other kids were potty trained by 3, even the one who had accidents for a while was fully potty trained by 3). He is doing well.
I would be prepared to go to 'pull ups' if you feel pretty confident but want a safety net you could look into some cloth diaper websites, they often sell training pants that are cloth and have a waterproof layer of fabric in them. This might help him to still feel like he is wearing underwear but just in case he has an accident it doesn't create a big mess.
