Tips for stayin blister free....

I have been wearing croc flops the last few visits and have had much happier feet.
:yay:

Crocs+socks=no blisters, no discomfort, no pain! Apart from that afflicted visually to the fashion conscious...but pfffbt, a comfortable, fun day at Disney is worth so much more than worrying about stylish footwear! :thumbsup2

Was in DL yesterday with the DW for her birthday celebration. Long story short, I wore shoes that I knew normally gave me blisters (no matter what type of socks).

I used Body Glide on my feet.....NO BLISTERS

I am now a convert. Body Glide rocks!!

My family of 4 have gone the last 3 summers and this combination works for us too...crocs + body glide! Not a blister in sight!

One piece of "weird" advice I've picked up from these boards:

Don't get a pedicure before you go on your trip!

If you go get a pedicure, they will file off all of your calluses. Those calluses are there for a reason - they protect your delicate feet from rubbing, expecially in those areas where your foot is prone to it. They're built up from months of rubbing - they might not be pretty, but they do serve a purpose!

First I wanna say that I am NOT trying to be mean with this but truithful....

If you walked more you wouldnt get blisters!

I suggest 6 months out from your trip go hiking every weekend! Start with one mile hikes and then ever so often try to extend the length of the hikes! Youll be more fit for this type of trip AND your feet will be use to it.

My wife and I hike every weekend and NEVER have trouble in ANY theme park! THE ONLY time we had blisters was from 10 days of walking through Barcelona on the cobblestones (they will kill even the toughest feet!) and we were wearing hiking boots most of the time there.

P.S. How could crocs be comfortable? They are one solid peice of plastic that rubs against your foot the entire time AND the soles are not the best for your feet! The traction sucks too! I suggest hiking sandles!

I walk three miles a day!!!!!!!! Still get blisters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to give up walking to give my feet a break. I had blisters pop during my walks.

I just ordered 2 pairs of Croc flip flops for $27 on crocs.com. In the outlet, there are many college team flops for $10 and a pair with Mickey on them(for adults) for $17. :flower3:

I would make sure that shoes are broken in before you go to disney. Also when you buy new shoes rub soap in them on the sides.I remeber when I was a kid and would get new shoes for school wore them for the first time on the first day of school and would get blisters cause my Mom would not let me brerak them in before the first day of school so would end up with blistersw

I've used Body Glide under the bra area:rolleyes1, but am curious about those of you who use it on your feet. Does it feel squishy to walk? I've had good luck using spray Secret deoderant on the feet, plus my Cool Max sox, but did get a couple blisters on the top of my toes an on the ball of my foot, which I used Moleskin on the hot spots, and the blister bandaids on the actual blister. Do you rub it all over the feet and toes? And are you slipping in your socks?

Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo I was wondering that about Body Glide. I did use it on the top of my foot (right where the straps of my ballerina crocs landed) and did note that hot spot was fine after. But I was hesitiant on using it around the bottom/sides of heels (it's only a coincidence that it rhymes with HEAL...) because I thought I might increase the shifting about and that would start the blisters. I hadn't thought about it on other parts subject to friction... I was using my trusty adhesive tape..

Let's hear from the people where they do and don't use Body Glide (feet is what I talking about here!

My theory about why even seasoned walkers get blisters at Disney is that it's a diff style of walking: turning or stopping in midstride to avoid strollers/EMV/pedestrians, all those winding turns in the Disney lineups, adjusting yourself in different seats for all the rides. There's a lot more stopping, standing and turning than you'd normally do on a walk, even a very long walk. Yes, great to build up your endurance and to toughen the skin on your feet (ix-nay on the edicure-pay) before the trip, and to have sneakers with support & cushioning & stability that your feet are used to, but I think there's still more to avoiding blisters (sheer luck for example!).

I did arrive at WDW last September w/ blisters, and even tho I only brought Crocs for water areas, I did find great relief in wearing them, as well as my Birkenstocks. I couldn't walk with the same speed/stride as my sneaks, but hey, this was Disney, not the walking trail.

Really? Darn it, I have a pedicure booked for just before we go. I usually get blisters at the drop of a hat but didn't get any last year on our trip to WDW. But thinking back, I also didn't have time to get a pedicure before we went....hmmm, I'm sensing a trend here. Thank goodness I found this thread, I would have been a mess.

I always get a pedicure the day before my trip. I just ask them to skip the part where they file away the calluses. :goodvibes

Also a note make sure your shoes fit right!!,and If there a little woren out get new ones!.Just got back and my shoes were a little to broken In and man did I have a blister grow on my toe!!,It took about three days of painfull walking for It to heel up.

I'm going to second making sure your shoes fit right. i'm partial to new balance. I have rather narrow feet so i dont really find the crocs that comfortable. try them on with a pair of socks that you normally wear to the world. I.E i wear knee socks alot of the time, especially to work. but they dont have the same thickness as the socks i wear to the world. If they rub any wear on anything when you walk. try something else. dont be afraid to go to a different size. if they wear in the store, they'll wear at the world.

also make sure you break them in. and again wear those socks you intend on taking on the trip. personally i'm a socks and shoes type of girl. at least at the world. i save the cute sandals that make my feet hurt for the mall.

i've never had a blister at the world. in fact my last blister was about 15 years ago. i was in the marching band. and those cute little white shoes i wore to march the parade in, well lets just say that by the end of the parade the back of my shoe wasnt white anymore. and the blister i had formed had blistered then popped, then formed some mass below it. it was not a pretty site.

Where do you buy Monostat or Bodyglide? I haven't been able to find it at my usual stores (Target, Dick's). Maybe I am looking in the wrong department?

where can you buy blister block? I just got a new pair of walking shoes (my old ones were getting worn) and I am afraid of getting blisters. I need to walk around to make sure these new ones don't rub......and I definitely don't want to be putting bandaids on my toes everyday to try to prevent the blisters.
