Tips for stayin blister free....

Do they have to be "real" crocs or can I buy them from wal mart and still have no blisters? Made the mistake of wearing brand new tennis shoes to MK last year and got 2 blisters.

I'll have to try some of these suggestions. Thank you. In the past I have used moleskin when I started feeling a hot spot but sometimes it's a pain to stop in the middle of the park, pull out tiny scissors, and apply the moleskin. ;)

Here in Canada I bought Band-Aid Friction Block Stick at the local Running Room. It was pretty small, and I slipped in my bag each day (next to my adhesive tape). Go to bandaid.com, there's a "where to buy" link at top of page (even a "brand offers"... perhaps promo freebies?)

I wore my real crocs, and was fine, but they are made of diff material than the knock-offs. My friends kids had both, and the knock-offs didn't take the beating the real ones did. But, there'll always be people who have success with everything! (grr, they're the ones with beautiful naturally curly hair! :))

But like many here state: Wear good fitting walking shoes/sneakers that you've broken in miles before you've gone (1 weekend likely won't do it) and with the type of socks you're used to.
Crocs are great to swap out IF you're used to them.
When I first got mine, there was an adjustment period. I only wore them around Disney out of sheer desperation- I was thrilled they didn't make it worse. It was painful to walk, but the spongy bottoms gave a comfort that the sneakers didn't.

I'm really glad to see this thread because I was just searching the web for ways to avoid blisters. I've gotten blisters on both feet both times we've gone to WDW. I get them on the bottom of both pinky toes and the toe next to it. I wore Croc's last year and while they were comfortable, I still got blisters. I definitely have sweaty feet, so wrapping them in plastic shoes doesn't help.

I'm confused about the body glide though. If sweat + friction = blisters then how does body glide help? Seems like they'd be wet either way. :confused3

Dustmouse, I think it's not the wetness that encourages the blisters, but the way the shoe and foot then grab on to each other. Sweaty makes you stick, not glide. The blister stick lubricates so there's always some sort of layer between the 2 encouraging them not to stick even for a wee fraction of a second.
(I guess like the way lubricants are used in other applications..... hmm. I mean mechanical operations, but what you're thinking, well that too.)
I don't know about using petroleum jelly, some swear by it tho.
But, if the shoes aren't well fitting, I don't think even amount of tape or lube is going to stop those blisters. And if you put a pair of sock in a bad mix, it could be just one thing to increase the agony (altho' sometimes sock are all that's needed.) I've heard from a runner, not to wear cotton socks, get moisture-wicking socks...?Sports stores for that?)

Last yr i came home w/ some pretty nasty battle wounds on my feet from blisters. i even switched up shoes everyday to try and stop it. It really put a damper on my trip the last 2 days b/c i was in pain w/ every step i took. this yr, my hubby actually had a solution and it worked great for me: i put baby powder on my feet/or in my sock first then wore 2 pairs of ankle socks w/ my tennis shoes. I am happy to say that this yr i came home blister free! HOORAY.

I bought a pair of Keens and some Body Glide from Sun & Ski Sports.

Wish me luck!

Could someone explain how Bodyglide is supposed to work to me?

I didn't really have any foot issues last trip (I had several pairs of shoes and always swapped them out when I went back to the room in the afternoon), but since I had bought the bodyglide I figured I would try it one day. I just put some on the tops of my feet and I wore crocs flip flops. It was very sticky and annoying and uncomfortable. I tried to wipe it off a bit, but I couldn't wait to get back to the room to put on socks and sneakers.

Are you supposed to let it dry? (It didn't seem like it would to me.) Should I have used less? More? Can you only use it with socks? There was really no info on the packaging other than rub it on. :confused3

Seems like a lubricant on your feet would be uncomfortable and icky! Especially when your feet get wet. I would not wear regular shoes to a theme park of any kind cause when your feet are wet they will stay wet all day and get waterlogged adn wrinkly.

Hmm I have keens also adn think they are so comfortable!

What worked for me was a pair of Keen Newport H2s . The Keens have a tendency to rub the little toe on my right foot but as long as I keep that toe taped up it's fine. With the exception of the blisters that I got on my first day the rest of the trip was totally blister free. The Keens were a lifesaver.

I wear Keen's as well (love them) and the baby toe, right foot is my trouble spot too!
