Any tips for staying at the Pop Century resort? I am wondering if there are any special requests for room locations, etc. that might be helpful. This is my first time staying at a value Disney property.

we had a Preferred Pool View in 2013, which was just steps away from the main building (food court, bus stops, check-in etc.)

these rooms are considered as very noisy, because they face the main pool
they were a little noisy, yes, but it could have been worse. We were very pleased with the room location and liked it to hop in the pool in like 30 seconds from our room

sometimes people were very late in the pool, but if you are not a light sleeper, you will be fine.

I try to stay away from the 80s or 90s. It is a long walk to the food court. The other locations are fine.

If I stayed at POP again I would book a preferred pool room. We booked a preferred room on our first stay there and ended up on the 4th floor facing a parking lot. For being preferred it seemed like such a long hike to the foodcourt and buses.

I've stayed at Pop 5 times. My favorite room was in the 60's area....bldg 4, fourth floor facing the lake! It was so peaceful. And now with AoA across the water, it will be even nicer. The walk to the food court and buses was under 5 mins. Not a big deal.
I've had rooms as far to each side as you can get....none of the rooms was a bad location. The walk to the food court may have been a minute or two longer but nothing off-putting.

Take some time and check out each of the Shadow Boxes in the Lobby.

In Everything Pop Food Court they do The Twist at 8:00 AM and The Hustle at 6:00 PM and Guests who dance get a cool button.

On the POP buses they play 60s and 70s songs and TV Theme songs.

When returnig from the Parks,if an AoA bus comes before a POP bus,hop on the AoA bus and walk back to POP across Generation Gap Bridge.

You can watch IllumiNations from Generation Gap Bridge and some of the rooms in the 50s and 60s.:)

As you can see we have stayed often and stayed all around but our favorite is 50's Lake View. Pretty and peaceful and under 5 minutes to main hub. One trip 12 days and never saw nor heard another guest on our floor.
- Where can you pay standard value rates and look at a lake?
- Resort overall has small footprint so preferred is not needed, but may be a choice.
- 80's/90's have some of the longest walks to main hub.
- 80's/90's is where they put the groups, especially an issue with the BTG in July, January, February.
- 60's will put you dead center close to everything, Lake View would be quieter = opposite side of building from main pool.
- 60's will be your longest walk to your car if you have and are using.
- 70's is a nice peaceful area since no pool and some lake view rooms.
- 50's have nice quiet pool with plenty of seating and tables.
- 50's longest walk will be no more than 5 minutes.
- Check out the WHOLE resort: Great icons and decor, Lots of cool stuff in 70's courtyard many miss.
- Along lake is a path all the way around lake for walkers and runners.
- Along path on POP side are signs for each year with a trivia fact.
- Shadowboxes in lobby are awesome to look at and depending on your age a flash back.
- Bridge to AoA is pretty to sit on and a view of higher fireworks at Illuminations.
- WALK the entire AoA resort, Imagineering at it's best. Take a camera.
- Eat at AoA food court, great menu and they serve on real plates with real silverware.
- POP has great transportation but you can also take AoA bus, we have at night when it arrived first then a nice walk over the bridge.
- Upper floors of 50's with unobstructed views can see Illuminations, Wishes and DHS Fireworks when they have them.
- Heard about the food court dancing but have yet to experience it.
- We park by 50's/lake path. If we drive to leave we go out via AoA, it's much faster.
- There are some standard pool view rooms, no different from preferred other than the end of building farthest from the main hub and cost less, only about 20 second walk futher.
- Great online room requests that really allow you to narrow your location.

Thank you all so much! I'm going to look on the web site now to see how to make a location request online. Will also check out the difference with preferred room but will probably stick with standard just because of cost. Really appreciate this!

The best way to make a request is to call and have your requests added to your reservation. You can do this any time from the day you book up until 4-5 days prior to your arrival. There is a section for room requests during online check in, but the options a predetermined and might not suit your needs.

Not location related but if you eat a CS meal (as part of the DP) at the food court, you can go to the ice cream counter for your dessert. Just mention it to the cashier and he/she will stamp your invoice accordingly. You'll have 90 minutes to go back for an amazing sundae or a milk shake for your dessert :goodvibes

we request 80/90s and love the location. If you walk along the front of the resort you are at the main building in no time. Plus it is close to a pool. I'm assuming we always get our request because the rest of the people don't like the area.

I requested a top floor in the 80s or 90s last year because we've never stayed on that side, and we got a first floor in the 50s  No idea where that came from, but it worked out! We were right next to parking, which was awesome.

For ANY value, TOP floor, NOT facing the pool. 50's lake view is quite lovely.

We have stayed at POP every year since they opened in December 2003. I do agree that the 50's lake view is beautiful but if you are in building 2, it is quite a trek after a long day at the park. In the past I have always requested 50's, lakeview and have gotten my request 80% of the time. My favorite room was Tramp building, top floor on the end. We had a beautiful view of the fireworks from our room and a beautiful view of the lake and that was the very first year we stayed there. The past 3 years we have been in 50's, building 2 and with kids it was tough when they were all tired at night. Last year instead of a top floor room, we were given a ground floor room and we LOVED it! We have also stayed in 70's lakeview and 60's lakeview all on the top floor. We have loved every room that we have stayed in but our least favorite rooms have been 50's building 2 only because of the long walk back to the room at night.

Also the best ice cream value I have found is at Pop. You can get a big sundae and choose anything you want on it from about 15 to 20 toppings and it's about 5 bucks... pretty good relative to Disney prices.

And if you have the dining plan, you can have the cashier stamp your receipt and have one of these wonderful sundae's for your desert :cloud9:
