I have an upcoming two week trip at POP with dh, dd6 and dd8. We take many trips a year so were ecstatic to get Free dinning! I have stayed off-site in the past, but found I rather stay onsite and share a room with the little ones. :) Any tips from those who have had longer stays? Anything I can bring (ex. collapsible clothing hamper..)? We will be flying, but will have extra room in our bags. Merci :)

Trash bags and clorox wipes.
I'm sure you can request extra trash bags or trash removal, but I felt better if I could get trash out of the way.
Also, not to be disgusting, but it seems like we often have had someone get sick during our stays. Anyhow, being able to clean it up ourselves is so much better than having to call housekeeping immediately.

I've done a week in a value when I was in college, but we didn't have kids with us. I think the key challenge was coordinating bathroom access. (looking back I'm not sure how 4 college aged girls and luggage fit in that room)

Wipes are a good idea... I do have a few shoe organizers as well. Thank you!

Lol! 4 college girls + luggage would be challenging! Bathroom access should be ok for us with the kiddos... I believe the new rooms at POP have the sink on the outside of the bathroom... that will be helpful in the mornings!

My tips-
Pack your own pillow. My quality of sleep with my own pillow is much better than with hotel pillows.

Unpack and store suitcases out of the way. I hate clutter, more so in a small space

Laundry bag, dryer sheets. Pick up detergent pods locally.

Shower scunci thing. Much better than a wash cloth in my opinion. I pick up a fresh one at the dollar store before I travel and dispose of it at the end of the trip.

Nightlight for the bathroom. It makes it easier to find the bathroom in a dark, unfamiliar space, and saves having to wake everyone up by turning a light on.

Since you'll be there for two weeks, I agree with the suggestion of unpacking everything and storing the suitcases. It would be great if the suitcases could be stored within each other so if you have coordinating luggage, that's what you should do. A carry-on that could be emptied and stored in the luggage is good

A large container of the Clorox wipes (like 100+) would be best. Wipe everything down when you get there, including the TV remotes, lamps and bathrooms and drawers for the dresser. Then unpack.

Pack some snacks for the kids (even though you have free dining). You never know if once you get back to the room they want a snack. Some bottles of water or other drinks would be good to put into the little mini fridge.

I like to pack a power (surge) strip so that I can have all the electronics plugged into one outlet, instead of having them all around. I would put that on the dresser.

I like to have indoor slippers for the hotel room, even though I think there's no carpet anymore in the refurbished rooms. A shoe organizer that can hang over the door would be very useful as mentioned above.

I second dryer sheets, pods and Clorox wipes! Also remember, Amazon delivers so make a just-in-case list on Amazon if you cannot get off property to shop (definitely cheaper than buying stuff on property). Some Febreze (or some other air freshener) if multiple people are sharing one bathroom. Just sayin'...

The nightlight idea is great, I may just try that myself. :-)

The suitcases can now be stored under the beds at Pop, so I'd make sure they're unpacked and out of the way. I could never stay in a hotel room for two weeks, but everyone is different.

I did this with 3 other girls while at University too! Luggage storage was a nightmare...but we all ' lived' out of the suitcase which surprisingly helped to keep things organized in the room. I packed my individual ' outfits' each day in a separate ziplock bag then had a garbage bag in other compartment for dirty clothes. Worked well for us! Good luck and I hope you have a magical 2 weeks:)

We have stayed value resort for the last 6 years. Trips from 6 - 10 days. A few items I'll list below we do and some have already mentioned above.

Packing List
Shoe Organizer to attach to bathroom door. This is a life saver for space. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, sunblock,ect...
Collapsible hamper - Much easier to make trips down to laundry with one
Detergent pods - Easier then a bottle
Surge Protector - Makes charging all the devices at the end of the day a lot easier.
With the little ones you may want to pack their outfits in gallon sized bags to start. Easy to take with you, easy to just grab one that has everything you need. That way the bags can be re-used after laundry or reused for other purposes.
Enjoy the trip. We are leaving in a week and can't wait!!

Plenty of room under the fixed-in-place bed.

P
Understood, but with the USB ports in so many of the outlets...

Regarding the power surge strip: it might possibly be a good idea even if there are many outlets in the room. If everything is plugged into one power strip, there is only one place to check. If things are plugged in all over the place, you might leave something behind accidentally.

The collapsible hamper is a must bring. Collapsible storage bins are also nice for organizing toiletries in the cubbies beneath the sink. If your family wears sneakers I would bring charcoal inserts or odor eater balls for the shoes. Clothes pins are great for hanging up wet swimsuits or ponchos on the line in the bathroom. I'm not sure how well the over the door shoe organizers work with the barn doors at Pop, but I know the closet rod shelves fit. There is a night light already in the rooms at Pop in the area with the sink. I would bring some dish soap to really wash out those refillable mugs. If you plan on doing laundry once or twice, you really won't have that much more stuff than a shorter trip. I seem to pack the same amount of stuff for a 5 day trip as a 10 day trip.

I but the cheapest plastic soap holder( the kind with the spikes and holes) for the shower because I bring me own soap bar from home.
l'll also bring a toothbrush holder and a foamy soap for the sink area. I can usually find each for 2 or 3 bucks at Marshalls/TJ Maxx and I always scan the clearance area. I once bought a .99 cent ceramic toothbrushholder that was broken. I didn't care, it was cheap! A clear makeupbag is good for dental floss, eyedrops, tweezers, q-tips. The less stuff laying out on the sink, the better.

With the kids we almost always stay at a Value resort. We just lay everything out and hang stuff up. The shelf by the bathroom is where we keep all things that isn't clothes. We have never felt cramped or anything but fine in the values. Its a clean room with a bath. All we need.
