I've read all kinds of posts where people came back to their room for their afternoon nap/break and their room had not yet been made up.

Does anybody have any tips for getting their on-site resort room cleaned early in the day?

find a room cleaner working your hall way....and grease her with $10 ro $20 to do your room early

Actually, all it takes is a phone call. We always call housekeeping when we are leaving the room and just ask "can we have housekeeping before noon (or 11, or whatever) please?"

Since we started doing that, we have never had the room unmade when we get back.

But I'm sure the cast members would prefer Got Quattro's way! :earsboy:

Housekeeping probably has to give preference to cleaning the rooms of guests who are checking out. Guest checking in want rooms earlier rather than later.

I think Got Quattro probably has the right idea.

All the times I've stayed at WDW resorts, I've never had that problem. We are usually still asleep in bed at mousekeeping is knocking on the door ready to clean! We were at CBR once and they came in while I was still in bed :rotfl2:

No matter what you do NEVER put out one of thoes "service this room now" signs. (Not sure if Disney even has them) Those are just a sign to people with bad ideas that "this room has stuff in it and is emtpy"

Be sure to WRITE DOWN the name of the associate you speak with in housekeeping, or simply ask to speak with a Supervisor. When you leave your room for the parks, etc., locate the nearest housekeeper with a cart. Ask her if she is "responsible" for cleaning your room (as you point in the general direction and state the room number). If yes, inform her you just called the housekeeping department and spoke with a supervisor. Let her know you requested EARLY cleaning, as you will be returning by _______ (fill in the blank with your estimated time). If the housekeeper is not the one responsible for cleaning your room, ask her where she is? Find her, and let her know. It's also a good time to let her know if you want this done each day of your stay, etc. Repeat the first part of this reply (call the housekeeping office/dept) each day before you depart.

I always do this, and request housekeeping ASAP (and let them know we are LEAVING the ROOM!!). I've never been disappointed using this method. :flower:

IF...you are in the room preparing to leave when the housekeeper knocks--simply offer her a time frame. I open the door, and kindly inform her we are planning to exit the room in five minutes. She appreciates the information, and I take the opportunity to ask for service as soon as we have left. If we pass her in the hall, I tell her we have left...and she can clean now. :goodvibes

These women are the hardest working people on all of WDW. I always TIP generously, and appreciate every thing they do to make our stay special. We have a friendly repor with them, and enjoy conversing with them as well. They are always polite, and exceed our expectations. These associates definitely help to make our stay MAGICAL! :wizard:

From your post, is sounds like in your experience, the mousekeepers at WDW resorts understand English pretty well. Is that true? (I've stayed in quite a few hotels in Texas and elsewhere where that really isn't true.)

Yes, ::yes:: most do! BUT...if you re-read my post, you'll notice the part where I wrote, "as you point in the general direction and state the room number." This is to insure clarity and understanding in case of a "communication" problem. Most all the supervisors in this department speak english, which is why I always phone and speak with one regarding my intentions/wishes. Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Hi Dreamflight!

You are VERY THOROUGH!

I'm not disputing your idea..it sounds very good! I just wanted to re-emphasize to the original poster that all we do is call before we leave the room and we've never had a problem. We do it every day as we are leaving the room.

Bob

We have stayed at YC and AKL and we have always had our room cleaned before we come back in the afternoon. In fact a few times we came back before noon and it was done.

Hi Bob! :wave2: ~I'm so glad this method has worked for you! I guess I'm not one to leave things to chance...so I institute extra measures. ;) Although, on one occasion...when my suite was not cleaned upon special request @ the WDW Dolphin, my account was credited $50.00!!

 The operator apologized, and offered me either SPG points, or a $50 account credit for the oversight. She called this the SHERATON PROMISE!! Just one more reason I LOVE the Dolphin!!! :cloud9:

Well--- that sure is a good reason to do it your way!!!! I guess we have no guarantees if they mess up our request!

In the rush to get three kids and a husband out the door to arrive at the parks before rope drop, I doubt that I'll have time to do anything elaborate. But I think I can handle a call to mousekeeping.

The one place I have had major cleaning issues is the Dolphin. Just getting my room cleaned there is a victory much less the time. At least twice they have not done it! So there you may want to take drastic measures.

Simple phone call works for us as well. Generally speaking we call on the first day and request early service for the duration of our stay. Never been dissapointed.

Last two trips, made a single phone call first day (WL & Dolphin). I asked for early room cleaning, since I'm usually out of the room by eight and like to come back early afternoon.

It was cleaned early every day. I don't know if it was cuz I was alone and they figured it would be a fast one or not, but they had no problem doing it early for me.

I would ask for first thing, most people don't check out til between 9 and 11, so asking for between 8 and 9 might help you get it earlier, before they start in on the check outs.

This has been our experience as well.

We have good rapport with our Mousekeepers too. We often end up meeting them in the early afternoon in the hallway as we return to our room. Some don't have a great command of English but can understand English well enough to help you or get someone else that does. At the Polynesian in particular, I can't ever having a language issue.
