Tips for a 10-day slightly disjointed trip with 2 kids?!

We were originally booked for 6 days. Bought 5-day tickets, made park reservations. Later added on an extra day at the front end but didn't increase park tickets. Last week added 3 more days on the front end out of necessity because hubby's job is sending him to do some work at an office along our driving route.

Now we will have 4 lazy days followed by 5 park days before travel day on day 10. I wish the lazy days and park days could be split up but because of the way dated tickets and park reservations work now it is not possible. We leave in 11 days.

We have a 4 yo and an 11 yo. I guess what I'm asking is more for those last couple days. Any tips on keeping everyone sane? Keeping them happy but not overtired from so many days being away? We've done 8 day trips before, so this is only a bit longer...but sometimes a bit is too much! :scared: I need encouragement and tips for balance! LOL :thanks::grouphug::smickey:

One idea is to add a water park today to break up the lazy days since you can't get additional park tickets/reservations. Blizzard beach has a great kiddie area and lazy river for the 4 year old and the 11 year old would love the slides.

Another consideration: do you have any interest in doing something non-disney with your first 4 days? You could modify the hotel stay down to just your park days and spend the first half at Universal or an airbnb on the beach. Or keep your hotel and just do a day trip to one of those.

My kids would have been happy to be at the pool every day. We have done other Orlando things prior to a cruise when the kids were little and it wore them out. Mini golf, downtown Disney, the nightly movie at the resort, riding the monorail or skyliner, watching the electrical water pageant, are all good things to consider (and all but the mini golf is free) you could do a character breakfast at a resort. Like I said, my kids would have been fine with several pool days and unless COVID affected it, (probably so but not sure) there were always poolside activities to join in

Is there no park pass availability for your lazy days ? I am confused why more days can’t be added to your 5 day tickets. Universal tickets for a couple of days would be pretty expensive. Going to Sea World or over to Busch Gardens would probably be a cheaper option. You could also day trip to Kennedy space center or to a beach. You could do one of the water parks. Maybe Legoland.

Yes. Op said they leave in 11 days. Park passes are greyed out then, meaning disney will not let OP add any days to their ticket to even attempt to get park passes.

There is alot to do in Orlando...

You could head over to one of the other parks - Universal, Sea World - which are the big parks... Cape Kenndey Space Center, or go with something smaller like Gatorland... this is very low key, and about half a day...Or if your kids are into Lego's , Legoland is not that far, or into Dino's there is Dinosaur world just a bit farther down I-4.. I will say that my grandson loves Dinosaur world...

You could head over to one of the beach... Cocoa Beach would be the easiest spot to get to... Jetty Park is nice and right next to the Port Canaveral where the cruise ships go in and out of... so you might get to see some ship coming in and out... Maybe even a Disney Cruise ship coming in to get fuel...

There are 2 mini golf courses on Disney property, which are fun and something to do

2 Water Parks... I think right now only Blizzard beach is open... As well there are other water parks...

You could shopping... lots of Outlets - The outlet at the end of I drive is the biggest one, as well there is a Bass Pro shop across the street and it a quick walk... and Malls -stick to Mall of Millennia, I'm a local and just trust me on this one...

Pool Days are always nice...

Will you have the car while your husband works, or are you limited to Uber or on resort activities? Are you staying in a Disney room or an offsite resort? Are you vets/military or another possible work field (like 1st responders) that FL is honoring right now?

Depending on what is open/available....I would play mini golf, go to the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds (boats, horses, etc.) and maybe even go to Universal. My daughter is just happy staying at the resort and going to the pool.
