We used the FDP in May 2009 (Thursday after Memorial Day)
There IS a reserved section and you DO get your reserved seat if you show up when & where they tell you to. And the rest of the theater DOES fill up long before the show and people DO get in line more than 2 hours before the show. But with the package, you DO NOT wait in line -- you walk straight in 60 minutes before the show & go directly to the reserved section & choose a seat. And the CMs DO keep non-package people out of the reserved section until 30 minutes before the show...at which time they take down the ropes and allow people in the standing-room section to take the few remaining seats in the reserved section. So if you are on time, you will get your seat...and all waiting-time will be in your seat, not in a packed line.
The people originally reporting that they did not get their seats (if you dig back & find the original post) actually got to the theater late because they went to the old entrance less than 60 minutes before show time (which is the old way you did it)...by the time they figured out they were in the wrong place & walked all the way around to the regular entrance, it was less than 30 minutes before the show and the entire theater, including the reserved section, was full. However, the voucher they give you in the restaurant actually tells you when & where to go...the OP had not looked at the voucher because they did not realize it had changed (they'd done the package before.) When we ate at Mama Melrose in May 2009, not only did the voucher tell us when & where to go, but the hostess out front & our waitress mentioned going to the regular entrance 60 minutes before show. And both cautioned us about being late.
