Tips and tricks for covering a stroller

I'll be heading down for a week this Saturday and the forecast still calls for rain everyday. We are borrowing a friend's double stroller and they don't own a rain cover for it. Anyone know of some good tricks to keeping a large stroller dry without a cover?

Even rain covers don't keep strollers from getting wet at all. So to some degree, it's going to happen. However, best suggestion I'd have (and we've done this several times) is get a rain poncho from Wal-Mart for $.98 (in the camping section). Cut it open...i.e. slice it up the side...and drape it across the stroller. Just make sure you tuck it in or otherwise have something to weight it down so that it doesn't blow off if there's a gust of wind in a t-storm. Works great. Large trash bag sliced open will also do the same thing.

I've read some people recommend a cheap shower curtain liner and clothespins for a stroller cover.

Also maybe check Amazon - with 2-3 day shipping you can get one that might fit better and keep it dryer, but it will cost more I'm sure.

FWIW, we had a stroller cover and during one torrential downpour it wasn't super helpful. Nothing will be perfect, so even if you get a cover try to park it in covered areas when they are available!

We have used blinder clips. I think they grip better.

Shower curtains or trash bags might be good for covering an empty stroller, but I can't see how you would use them while walking the parks.

Honestly, I'd just buy a double stroller rain cover (give it to your friends after the trip). They aren't that expensive and it's just not worth it to me in terms of the hassle it's going to be to not have one.

I would buy the rain cover for the double your friends have. Give it to them as a thank you for letting them borrow their stroller.

As stated above, i'd purchase the rain cover that is designed for the stroller. That way when you need it you can have it fitted and functional to keep stuff dry... especially if kids are in it too! Poncho's and other things are fine and work well, but given their inherent 'make shift' design it can often be difficult to secure and can be awkward. Have a look on craigslist, amazon etc... it will be well worth it! You can always sell it, or give it to your friend as a thank you for the use of their stroller! ;o)

We took a stroller for our 4 year old last year. I didn't want to invest in a cover as she no longer uses a stroller at home. I bought a shower curtain and a pack of chip clips at the dollar store. Worked great, and we were there during a tropical storm so there was a LOT of rain
