We’ve been to WDW the last two years but have always gone in April. Our DD has asked to go this year for her 7th birthday in September. Plans are to be there the 15-22nd. We will have a 3 day PH Plus and plan to do MNSSHP.

I don’t know when party dates are released but am thinking to go to one of the mid-week parties.

I know weather can be iffy rain-wise and hurricane wise that time of year. What temps are we looking at? Still shorts and T-shirt’s or do the nights get cool?

Any tips and tricks would be appreciated!

We were there the last week of sept in 2017. Temps were higher then normal (90 for the first 4-5 days) then 88* for the last two days. Very humid so for us it was a shorts week. Rain will be hit or miss but we only had one full rain day but it was welcome. For your MNSSHP I would recommend a mid day visit if you can. Crowds will be high we did a Tuesday and Friday party and Tuesday was less crowded. If you’ve never been do you research on what is going on. There is a ton to do with the character M&Gs, shows, parades and fireworks

It will be hot. It will rain in the afternoon. Irma derailed our Sept trip this year. We were there 2.5 of our 7 days. Keep an eye on weather and if there is any chance of hurricane, plan for what you will do if a hurricane hits during your trip.

We rented a car with car seats to have in hand as soon as the hurricane’s path was becoming more obvious. Good thing we did because our flight home (we were supposed to fly out the evening Irma was expected to hit) was cancelled 4 days in advance. Airport closed. Finding a way home would have been disastrous after the fact.

We knew we did not want to waste our DVC points to ride it out. We decided we would return at another time to “finish” the trip.
We drove the 22 hours home. I am glad we rented the car when we did before the mass exodus or we wouldn’t have gotten one.

I think everyone needs to be realistic about hurricane chances. I am really not trying to be a downer but my tip is to just be prepared and know that IF a hurricane hits, would you stay or leave? Having a plan helped us out immensely.

Other than hurricane risk, Sept has always been one of our favorite times to go. This was the first time a hurricane affected our Sept trip.

We go often in September and it is typically very hot and humid, even at 10:00 at night. Evenings will NOT be cool.
You can expect daily afternoon thunderstorms (bring ponchos) and while a hurricane is unlikely it will still be hurricane season so it's certainly a possibility. Crowds are usually quite manageable as the kids are all back in school.

I don't know about mid-September, but I was there Labor Day weekend in 2017 and it was hotter than the surface of the sun-- the "feels like" temp during the day was around 112 degrees!! :sunny:

The nights do not cool down on a regular basis until late October here. Plan on it being extremely warm and humid sweaty weather 24/7. One very light jacket should be enough, and you likely won’t need it while outside.

Plan your costumes for MNSSHP accordingly, if you wear any. You don’t want layers or anything heavy.

Umbrellas are the best rain gear in the summer. Ponchos hold your body heat in and can be very uncomfortable to wear in the summer. I’ve seen people take them off, preferring to be wet.

I suggest planning to be indoors as much as possible in early-late afternoon, whether it be at indoor shows/attractions or in your hotel room. It is usually just too hot to enjoy much. The good news is that September is slightly less of a sauna than August is.

Thank you everyone! I didn’t realize that it would still be that hot, but it’s ok, we may use all our water park entitlements! Lol

We are really looking forward to lower crowds as we normally go around Spring Break.

About MNSSHP, does Prince Charming meet with Cinderella during this? We have met all the princes except for him!

We were there September 7-18th. stayed through irma and it was great! Besides the storm, it only rained one other day for about an hour. It is HOT! but I live in GA and I love the heat! MNSSHP was very manageable on Tuesday night but so crowded on Friday we left an hour before it ended. ADR's are still hard to get at the signature restaurants due to a lot of older couples traveling at this time. Have fun!

Shorts and T-shirts are the rule until December. It's Florida, lol. Don't worry about hurricanes. Chances are excellent you won't get caught in one. Chances are also excellent you will be dodging thunderstorms in the afternoon. Oh well, it's not like the humidity levels can get much higher. Late September is a nice time to see the Mice. The Food and Wine Festival should be going on at EPCOT (a nice bonus) and the crowd calendar shouldn't be too crazy. My main tip is to pace yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day. Enjoy WDW at a comfy pace and you'll like it all the more for it.
