I have never been on a cruise and have a question about tipping. When tipping, does the tip get charged to your room account or do you actually give money like in a resturaunt on shore? Also, do you tip at each meal or can you tip at the end of your trip? And how much of a tip? How does this work?

Generally people tip all at once on the last night of the cruise. On Thursday you will receive envelopes in your stateroom, one for each of the tipped positions. You can either charge your tips to your account or give cash. If you choose to charge your tips you will receive tickets for each of your CMs. You will put the stubs of these tickets into the envelopes for each position. If you choose to give cash you simply put the cash in the envelopes.

I don't have the tipping amounts handy but I'm sure somebody else will. Generally tips for the 7-day cruise run about $75 per passenger (total for the 4 tipped positions).

Well you must be new, we have sailed on three disney cruises, this is how we did it. We charged the tips to our room on the night before the end of the cruise and of course we gave extra! and we personally we handed the tip envelope that the ship provides with your charge slip to them inside. We did put a little extra cash in each. All of our cruises have been great with all the help, you will see. Hope this helps

A tip sheet (industry standard tips amounts listed for the Head waiter, Head Server, Assistant server and Room Host/ess) and envelopes are left in the stateroom prior to the last night.

On the 7 day it was suggested $6.50/pp Head Waiter, approx $25./pp Head server, approx $20./pp assistant server and I am getting fuzzy here on the room host - $25./pp.

Don't wait until your last night to head to guest services if you intend to charge the tips to your account. There was absolutely NO line on Thursday night while Friday night was total mayhem!

Thanks to a tip on this board, I brought along note cards to write a personal note for our servers and then let DS draw a picture on the back. He felt very proud presenting them with their cards & tips.
