I know there have been threads on this in the past, but since search is down....

Need suggestions on when and how much to tip at BCV for parking, baggage, etc. I never know how much to give - seem to always give too much or too little ;-)

Thanks for your help!!!

Hi, DisneyDuo. You will get answers to this that are virtually all over the map, so I will just say what my new and improved personal guidelines are-

Valet parking: $3 at drop off, $5 bucks at pick-up.

Baggage: $2 per bag, not to exceed $20 for a full cart.

Housekeeping: $5 for trash & towel, $20 for 2br full cleaning.

The valet and baggage may be a little heavy, but they are considered tipping positions. Housekeeping is considered non-tipping.

If this is the norm, then we seriously undertip the valets.

No, that is likely not the norm. I probably over-tip the valets.
Actually, proper protocol says only tip upon pick up. We choose to tip both directions.

I had sent an email to Member Services sometime back with a question about tipping the valet at BCV. Listed below is what the response was, word for word. I hope this helps you decide what to give.

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

Usually you would tip the valet that brings the car to you, although you are
free to tip at drop off as well, typically the tip will range from $1-2 at drop
off, and $3-5 at pick up, of course all subject to your discretion. Keep in
mind, that Valet charges to the room are free when you show your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card when you pick up your car at Disney Vacation Club Resorts only. If you are using the Disney Collection, standard Valet charges apply which are $6 per day, not including gratuity.

Have a Magical Day!

I usually tip valets $2 each way depending on service. If I'm left standing there waiting for someone to come over to take the car and they are not busy, then I don't tip (not hustling, pet peeve of mine). The valet who takes the bags out of the car (we usually have 2 large and 2 or 3 smaller), I give $5 and $5 to the bellman who brings them to/takes them from the room.

What I want to know is how to get a job doing this. I figure:

Pay from Disney: $7 per hour
Park 5 cars per hour (3 min/car) $2 * 5 = $10
ickup 5 cars in the same hour (3 min/car) $4 * 5 = $20
take up 2 peoples bags at same hour (10 min/rm) $2 * 10 = $20

Equals $57 per hour!!!!

57 * 8 hours per day * 5 days per week * 47 weeks per year = 107K per year!!!!!

Thanks for the great "tips", everyone! Now I won't feel quite so much like a Beverly Hillbilly ;-)

It's important to tip Housekeeping if they've done a good job on your room. In addition to complaining about room problems, it's another way to help keep Housekeeping standards from dropping (the carrot and the stick).
