Hi, have been onto many threads regarding tipping.
Most people say there servers etc go beyond and above the call of duty and are brilliant.
What would you consider an extra amount to add on to the reccomended tipping level ?
Sorry to sound so stupid, but being English and having a very different system from yourselves, I really want to get this right.
If our servers /as servers/cabin stewards etc do a brilliant job i want to make sure we reward them accordingly.
Many thanks

it truly is up to you --- just make sure that you tip them the suggested amount (found in the cruise docs), unless they do a truly poor job (our room steward was not good, so we tipped less than the recommended amount). Our dining room staff was excellent, we couldn't say enough good things about them. We increased the amount per cruiser that we tipped the dining staff, including the dining room manager. They bent over soooo backwards to make things wonderful, they really doted on the kids, they remember everything, etc etc etc They so earned more than the "standard" tip that we increased it by 25% to 75%.

Ivanova, Than's for replying so quickly. Sound's like you had a brilliant time and were well looked after.
We have 2 daughter's who love to be fussed over when we eat out, so I think there going to feel like princess's with all the attention lavashed on them.

Our room steward was (shall we say) 'crummy' - forgot everything, didn't make up our room until mid-late afternoon, ran out of supplies (like towels!!) that he didn't replenish (even when we requested them), etc. - in both rooms! (Not even towel animals in our room until the last night). So, we left less than the requested amount with a note explaining why.

Our table servers were wonderful & we left them well over the requested amount. Don't know the exact percentage, but I would guess it was equal to the amount Ivanova said. We even tipped some of our lunch servers that were exceptionally good - even though we only had them one time. (We made note of their names & dropped envelopes to them.)

It is certainly personal preference, but I would guess that if you are thinking of tipping over for very good to exceptional service, it could range in $ amounts from $5.00 up to $20.00+.
