tipping valet parking

For other DDE users out there, what do you tip when you use valet parking?

I tip the same as I do at the DVC resorts. $2 coming and $2 leaving. I carry a supply of $2 bills for this very reason.

I tip the same as I would if I were staying there. But only on the return, never on the drop-off because the service hasn't been (fully) rendered yet.

I tip the same as if I was to pay for valet parking. To me the tip you give to the valet has nothing to do with whether or not the establishment charges you to valet park or not. I tip $2 at drop off and pick up.

Ha. I tip the drop off guy more because he is the one who decides if you car get driven like a rental, or his car. If you dont tip that guy you are screwed.

If you dont tip the return guy, whats he gonna do to get back at you? Nothing because you are leaving. But when you stiff the drop off guy, he is going to find a way to get back at you.

Seriously though. You should tip both ways. It very rare that the same guy gets you comming and going.

Proper ettiquete is to tip when you pick up car only, not when you drop it off.

We tip $3 when we take the car, nothing at drop off.

I think it's so--at least at the Grand Floridian. This valet tipping question has come up any # number of times on the various boards, and I seem to recall once that someone had actually called the Grand Floridian to find out.

We generally tim $1-2 depending on what the weather is like and how far they have to go to get the car.

Even if the pool the tips, everyone in a tipping service industry dosent turn in all their tips. Anyone from the car wash guy, or the valet to the pole dance stripper. the all hold back.

We also tip $2 each way. We have a system where all $1 bills are saved that we get our hands on at WDW. This is done by Richard (who has all of the deep pockets and PP pouch) and we have a whole system around it. It is a job he takes as seriously as his Mug Man duties, let me tell you. It's kind of funny, because he's from the UK and I'm from the US so I do ALL of the driving. So he has this system where he surreptitiously hands me the $2 just before I give the valet the keys. It's pretty funny.
