Can I ask an honest question?
Why is it that everyone says that the day that the customer is having should have no affect on the tip they leave on one hand...

And then on the other hand say that you have to take into consideration the type of day the server is having and other factors that have nothing to do with you? Should be taken into consideration when leaving the tip...

What's with the double standard?

so does this mean that if you are having a bad day and you don't like anything or anyone, you will take it out on your server? does that make you extra critical of my service?

im not saying that table problems are not 100% the servers fault. but if your food isn't cooked the way that you like it how is that my fault? i serve the food. i can't cook it for you too. if the kitchen is slow. how is that my fault? just because the restaurant doesn't LOOK busy to you doens't mean the kitchen isn't hustling and bustling back there. there are ways for a server to save the table. but i hate when there is something wrong with the food and the guest tells me its MY FAULT. do you do that to your mom? if she cooked your steak medium and you wanted it medium rare do you complain to her too?

don't forget that im just human and i have days where NOTHING is going my way too.

Actually what this means is that I am going to do everything in my power to base my tip on the service I receive regardless of the day I've had... and that I fully intend to base your tip upon the service that I receive regardless of the day you have...

If my food isn't cooked correctly and you're friendly about fixing it - that isn't your problem and wont show up in your tip.
If the kitchen is slow and you stop by to let me know what's going on, that wont reflect on you at all.

But if you have too many tables, and that reflects the service you give me, the that will affect your tip. The good news is the fact that you're over busy will hopefully reflect in extra tips even if they are slightly lower in amount.

In short as I said, the day I have has nothing to do with what you should be tipped. On the other hand your performance regardless of your work load, is your problem and how you handle it will reflect in your tip.

My question was if my bad day doesn't mean I can give you a bad tip, should your bad day also mean I can't give you a bad tip? Why is it my bad day shouldn't be factored in to giving you a lower tip, but your bad day should be factored in to whether I give you a lower tip? Seems like a double standard to me.

so does this mean that if you are having a bad day and you don't like anything or anyone, you will take it out on your server? does that make you extra critical of my service?

So how much does a waiter/waitress earn at a Table Service restaurant at Disney?

DDP just this year has removed the 18% gratuity (and the appitizer)...yet the price has continued to increase for the Plan. This sub-consciously has to be running through the mind of those who paid for the DDP in advance of the trip.

This thread rightfully belonged on the Restaurants Board last summer.. not here on themeparks.

I've closed it here because there are several tipping threads on the go on the restaurants board and I see no point in moving this thread that is 6 months old over to join them.

Any questions about the DDP, the included tip, etc.. are best addressed there on the restaurants board.

Thanks,

Knox
