Tipping the pizza guy....poll

I rarely get delivery, when I do its 20% or $5 minimum.

We always tip, maybe $5-$10 depending on the order. I would feel terrible for the rest of the day if I didn't tip someone.

We don't get delivery. The place we get our pizza at is exactly 2 miles door to door but it takes them almost an hour to get it to us.

I order online, hubby drives to get it, and it is always just coming out of the oven when he gets there, and he is home with piping hot pizza in less than 20 min.

We don't tip when we pick up and that is based on where we get our pizza states "no tip on carryout".

This is us, but it's only 4 minutes to our local pizzeria. I'd be happy to tip a delivery driver, but it has been years since we had a pizza delivered.

Same here- start at $5, add more for a big order or bad weather.

Most of the time, when we order pizza, either DH or I will go pick it up.

However, when we do have it delivered, I always tip 20% & round up in the delivery guy's favor.

Lol, we have at least a dozen pizzerias within a mile of our house, and almost always have it delivered. We tip 15 - 20%. No one charges for delivery, and food is usually delivered in a half hour. Parking lots are rare, so delivery is just easier.

Rarely do we do delivery...only in emergency/weather situations. So, I tend to tip big in those instances....easily 25%.

Nothing. We live in a rural area. There is no such thing as pizza delivery here (or any food delivery). The nearest pizza place is 15 miles away.

My husband on weekends does delivery (He works for a delivery company that delivers for Grubhub restaurants) and sometimes it's terrible what he receives. I always think of this when I order food in, I think of my husband hitting the streets in whatever weather to delivery people's food. I usually tip around 20%, possibly more if it's bad weather out like during a rain storm. My husband doesn't depend on people's tips as he has a regular FT job during the week, but many of the other drivers do. We use the money to pay for our child's preschool tuition.

We usually tip around 20% but if it's a holiday or the weather is bad, I feel bad for the teenage boy and tip more.

On the extremely rare occasions we get pizza or Chinese food delivered, a minimum tip of $5, no matter how low the bill is. We WON'T get delivery in heavy rain or snow, there's always cans of soup or tuna to eat. No need to have some driver deal with foul weather.

We don't ever get pizza delivered, but $10 seems high to me. Pizza to feed my family of 5 in my area is only $18.

10% rounded up. Our delivery tabs (pizza, subs, Chinese) are usually about $30-40 and I tip $4-$5. The drivers make above minimum wage.

We tip the standard 20% when we have pizza delivered, but normally just pick it up since its less than 1 mile from my house. When I pick it up, I don't tip, even though there is a tip jar on the counter.

For the first time ever this week, I tipped in a situation where I normally do not leave a tip. Its a local family type restaurant where the majority of patrons sit down and are waited on. However, they have a drive thru order board as well (like at a McDonalds). I ordered from the drive thru and then drove up to wait for my food. I watched as the server gathered my items and then included salad dressing, crackers, silverware, napkins, plates. She also cut a serving of coconut cream pie and placed it in a "to go" container. She then came to the window completed my transaction. The whole process took her 3-4 minutes. I sat in my car wondering if she was paid the server rate of $2.85 per hour or a higher rate for those in non tipped positions. I am guessing its the lower rate since I remember sitting in the same restaurant and watching regular servers who had tables also working the window. I didn't want to ask her so I decided to tip her 20%.

I tip around 10% but no less then $3 if its a small order.

I figure if resteraunts get 15 to 20% and they have to spend considerable more time and special requests that this is about right.
