I did a search and didn’t find an answer to my tipping dilemma and memory fails if I’ve ever asked this before, so here goes:

We’re planning on being at AK the end of May (2023), and I’d like to have some items delivered for our stay. Does one tip the bell service who handles the delivery? I’m going to assume one does, it being like luggage service.

What would be an average rate? I’d like to think maybe $1 per bag? Maybe $2 for heavy items like a 24/48 pack of water? If I only have 2 or 3 bags, that doesn’t seem like it would be enough, Maybe a $5 base amount? I know this is very subjective, but I’ve been at a loss, and am open to suggestion.

Tipping is a personal choice but I would suggest it is customary to tip anytime something is physically brought to your room, be it luggage, groceries, or whatever. FYI in case you don’t know this, Disney also charges $6 if bell services delivers groceries to your room. You can avoid this fee if you pick it up yourself from the bell services desk.

I personally don’t get too scientific with $ per bag math… more just the eyeball test and sometimes dependent on what kind of bills I happen to have at the time. For me personally, if it’s just a couple of things, maybe $5… if it’s a more substantial load, maybe $10…. If the CM has had to apply advanced physics to balance 2 carts worth of stuff on 1 cart with things hanging off every which way, maybe $20. I find many bell services CMs to be delightful people and a good quick conversation, so that’s worth something to me as well.

But you’ll see feedback everywhere from zero to anything… I’m sure others will have plenty of comments on the topic as well.

Tipping is a personal choice. If you're talking about having groceries delivered by bell services at AKL, keep in mind that bell will charge a fixed $6 fee to deliver the groceries. We will usually add another $5 on top of that. But we've also had really large grocery orders some trips when we're staying longer and have done up to $10. But again, that's us - if we have the bags held and delivered with the groceries, it might be more. You can also go to the lobby and pick it up yourself!

I tend to fall in the camp with @GADisneyDad14 when it comes to tipping, where $5 is the bare minimum and we just sort of decide how much more based on how much and what they're handling for us. Anyone who handles our stuff--luggage, groceries--gets tipped. We usually get Instacart deliveries and I tend to just bring it up myself on my solo trips since I really don't get too much. But this time I have a longer stay with my partner and we will be getting a couple larger packs of water at minimum. I plan on tipping closer to 15 or 20.

I just give them a flat $5 when delivering my bags or groceries. I go to the bank before the trip and get a bunch of $5s and $1s for tipping purposes.

I've had items delivered at both AKL & GDT. At AKL, we were able to pick up at the check in counter. She walked into a room directly behind the counter. I didn't tip for that. At GDT, they couldn't find our package because items there are delivered at another location. We arrived in between the times that they transport to Bell Services so there was a little more involved. They ended up having to track down the package & then someone hand delivered. I tipped $20 for this.

Thanks you all for the suggestions, I think I now have a pretty good idea of what we’ll do. As we’ll have a pretty hefty load of water, pop, etc., we’ll probably tip in the higher ranges. I think that settles my dilemma
