Tipping on DME?

I fully agree. I find in Disney World, it is expected of you to give tips to everyone to pay their wages....Holy cow, the company is laughing. They pay their employee practically nothing because we pay them in tips whether we get good service or not....

One thing I do dislike about Disney is being nickled and dimed all the time ...

Might as well start tipping ALL Disney Bus drivers and monorail drivers. checkin personel, cleaning staff, maintaince , ticket both operators, etc.... .

Disney does not own or operate ME, Mears owns and operates the busses and they are driven by Mears' employees, not Disney.

Most of the people you tip are in the service industry and this is not just at Disney. Your local restaurants run the same way, your local motels run the same way and on and on and on. The non service workers, IE: Disney Bus drivers, monorail drivers, etc. are paid more because they do not receive tips.

If the DME information clearly states that NO gratuities are needed, then that is your answer. End of discussion!

I work in the service industry and my hourly rate is quite substantial when a service charge has been included. There is NO need for an additional gratuity. If I provide exceptional service, extra is nice, but not expected or necessary.

When it is stated or customary that tip is not included, please tip appropriately. (Such as $1 or $2 a bag in the case of a bellhop or skycap).

If the driver handles any of our luggage (early morning or late evening flights when we can't use RAC) then I tip him/her several dollars per bag.

I do not tip the driver if there aren't any bags for him/her to handle. Should the driver ever go above and beyond the call of duty for anything when I didn't have bags, I would tip but that hasn't happened yet.

I don't want to derail the thread and turn this into a tipping debate but I, personally, strongly disagree with some of the other posts and opinions here. I'm only sharing this so that the OP knows there are varying opinions and that the OP will need to decide what s/he would like to do regarding tipping.

:thumbsup2 These are my thoughts exactly.

True tipping is suppose to be for a job well done , in appreciation. Disney expects it to pay their employees wages. I don't mind tipping when service is good ....I don't believe a company as huge as Disney and as making as much money can't pay their employee accordinigly.....

It is greed and nickle and dimeing their customers ! This is my opinion, you don't have to like it or respect it. Just As Disney has the right to lower pay rates and use tips to compsensate for it , I have a right to critque or express my opinion as do you ! :santa:
