Hello everyone. Family and I will be heading to disney in a few weeks and we are wondering what is the appropriate amount to tip mousekeeping? We'll be staying at carribean beach and there will be 3 of us.

You'll get a lot of different answers for this. Some are adamant that no tip is required. Others believe that it's standard etiquette to tip housekeeping staff at hotels. It's really up to you on what you feel is right and appropriate.

My family does tip housekeeping at every hotel we stay at, including Disney resorts. We tip $1 per person per night, so for our family of 5, usually $5. If we feel that we got outstanding service, we might give a little more. If service was terrible, then less.

$10-$20 per night is generous. $5 per night is adequate. 0$ per night is likely very common, and not in a good way.

I found that the measure of $1 per person in the room is a great barometer. Although the card in your room will have mention an assigned Mousekeeper, you will most likely get more than one looking after your room so it's important to leave a tip everyday.

We also leave a thank you note with the tip and we always get great service and sometimes a not back. :D

We leave $5 a day as well. I think it goes a long way towards making for a great stay. On our last trip I forgot my toothbrush and asked about one. The next day I had a whole little kit of brush and toothpaste left for me. The next day the light bulb blew on the lamp sitting on the desk, again left note and came back to the room that night with the bulb replaced. Later in our stay I tipped over my mouthwash bottle so asked if they had any and returned to find five little bottles lined up on the sink. I think everyone likes to know they are appreciated and I feel leaving a nice tip every night does that. We also leave a little note the first day introducing ourselves and thanking them for taking care of us.

We tip at all hotels, domestic and international. I know it is hotly debated here, but for me I feel it is the right thing to do.
We have 3 people and leave $5/day

Wow. Way to get the thread closed.

To the OP:
At Disney, housekeeping, or if you want to use the more popular term, mousekeeping, isn't a tipped position. What you tip is completely up to you. Yes, it is true, that many people don't tip. And there is no problem with that.

If you want to tip, $1 per person is a normal amount to tip.

We are a family of three, and I tip $3 each day. I put it in an envelope that is labeled "for mousekeeping, thank you!" and I tape it to the bathroom mirror. On days when we don't get service, they don't get it (there's always a couple days each trip that we are napping or in the room when they come, and in that case they just leave towels/toiletries).

When it is just me and my daughter in one room, we leave $5 a day. When all four of us go and stay in a two bedroom suite, we leave $10 a day and then another $20 handed directly to the mousekeeper on check out day to make up for the messes my son invariably makes-LOL. Teenage boys-yuck-LOL.

I tip a dollar per person per night. I leave it in an envelope where the
mousekeeper will find it...And at times, I may leave a chocolate bar...pixiedust:pixiedust:
